Hey guys, I played a hand vs. a player who is tight passive but tends to go all-in when he has the nuts, but checks out of position and calls a bet with the nuts. He was winning a lot but then got 3-bet and value bet light to death.... I thought I would trap with a Q high flush

I am in the cutoff in 6 max and open for $10. Villain 3-bet in the SB to $26 has about $200 behind. I have $600 and call with Qh10h.

Flop: Kh6h2h

Villain bets 1/2 pot and I call. ($106 pot)

Turn: 3c

Villain quickly checks and I check back.

River: Kc

Villain shoves for about $100 more and I call, and shows 66 for a full house.

Can anyone provide some analysis on how I played this hand? I think I could bet the turn to keep Ah flush draws in and two pairs and set type hands. Obviously now I know villain had a boat on the river and I knew at that point he had 66. I couldn't make the fold on the river because I think 1/3 times I'm correct against most players and break even, but against him I think I definitely should have folded since he only went all in and bet with a monster out of position. He often even checked with trips and called me down when I would bet for thin value with some sort of top pair on the river. I thought that maybe since I played it passive he might shove with Kx but that might be ambitious as I wouldn't call unless I had a hand like JJ which would still be a bluff catcher. I would appreciate this as I really want to know how to avoid losing an all-in river bet against a full house in these spots (such as betting the turn, raising the flop).

I don't think there is a good chance either of you is getting away from the had.

He's tight passive, so when he 3 bets you out of position preflop let's call with an incredibly easily dominated hand

As played why the hell do you play it so passively post flop? The pot's over $50 and stacks are less than $170 and he bets - if you're not going to click it back on the flop then at least get it in on the turn

Thanks this is a good point the effective stacks are so small on the turn shoving seems mandatory if I did not raise flop... this is a pretty big leak of mine letting Ax get there, two pairs and all the sets and calling 100%.

We’re IP and get 2.5:1 against a range that includes hands like 66. Stacks are a little shallow, but unless we’re perceived as tight and QTs is at the bottom of our CO opening range, I don’t see a fold here.

Postflop the only real question is if we should raise the flop. If we don’t, we obviously have to bet the turn. For that, we should know the real stack sizes. According to OP villain started with around $200 and after betting $26 preflop (pot $56) and $25 on the flop (pot $106) he is left with around $100. That math doesn’t work out.

Tight passive players 3b 66 from the blinds now, what a time to be alive

Apparently they do in OPs game.

If a tight passive player doesn’t 3bet 66, he can’t show up with that hand at showdown. Now we could argue if 3betting 66 disqualifies you from being labeled tight passive but that would be a totally different conversation. For the purpose of this thread we should assume the guy is tight passive and does 3bet small pairs from the SB against steals.
