Thoughts

Pre-flop we get invited into the hand after HJ cold calls. We're not too worried about the cold call because he's made some questionable plays.

We flop a pair and continue, assuming BU is cbetting a lot of overcards IP in a multi-way 3B pot.

Everybody checks the turn which probably rules out a lot of the top end of BU's range. I think all overpairs are still a bet here but he could get cute with AA with a club. He could also be checking back a flush which a lot of micro stakes players seem to do.

River is interesting. BU bets and HJ folds. If HJ called it would be an easy fold, but considering he did fold I'm not sure.

AJ/AJs and KJs are the only jacks he has, versus his air like AK/AQ/suited wheel aces/ATs-AKs. If we think he checks turn with AA/KK it becomes much closer, but otherwise he has much more air than value here.

How does this sound?

I don't like calling pre in the COvMP. 3-bet or fold. When BTN squeezes, it's a fold whether MP calls or not. You're OOP with 8-high in a pot where the SPR does not work well with your hand. If anything you should be less inclined to call when MP also plays, as now you need to beat 2 players instead of 1.

You've got a pair on the flop, but without the BDFD, I think it's a sad fold in theory. Fold river too. A flush got there on the turn, and villain's line reps an overpair or a slowplayed flush. I think you need a set if you want to call river, but you should check-raise 88 on the flop, so you've only really got JJ and flushes that can call. 2nd pair is toast way too often in this spot.

fold to his raise pre. you need 20:1 stack/call ratio to mine with S.C, and youre out of position.

when we do call we're not doing it to flop tpbk multiway without initiative and call down. this is a gross over-value of TP. as played, without staring at the hand too long, i can say you'd honestly be better checkraise-folding the flop as a bluff/for visibility than just calling down vs an uncapped range - but, infinitely better folding pre.

Thanks guys. Will aim to plug the leak pre-flop. The bottom line seems to be we're not deep enough for implied odds to matter 3-ways.

I've been auto-continuing on flops where I flop a pair because I felt I was supposed to. I do think some players are c-betting and giving up on brick turns with ace-high but realize I'm getting rekt by overpairs by calling down.
