Extracting money with a monster when the villain has a strong hand is pretty easy, but how do you get money when they have trash?

I feel like I have tried playing these hands every way I can, flop a hand and be aggressive and they fold. Flop a good hand, check and they check all 3 streets. Most of the time it seems after I check once or twice, even a min bet makes them fold. Should I always just bet for value and hope they call? The big hands are few and far between so obviously I want to make as much as possible when I get them.

Obviously it would be nice to flop a good hand against someone that will just spew off chips with nothing so we can exploit that, but we don't always get to pick who we catch a good hand against. lol

Pretty much this.

If your oop maybe you can try and induce a bluff by checking all streets but you'd have to be damn sure that villain is a bluff donkey or risk losing value when he does have something that would have called reasonable sized bets.

When in position, he checks, you bet, he folds, sigh and move on...

there's an old saying, if you can't lose, you can't win much. villain has to have something he thinks can win in order to put money in, unless he wants to bluff, if he doesn't, then as preki says you can't really do anything about it, take the small pot and shuffle

It takes 2 to tango (tangle) .. There are just times when your opponents don't connect. There's been many a time when I've wondered how 3 players who called a PF raise could miss 'that' Board when I tossed out a c-bet!

Just make sure you range your opponent. The more likely that they did hit the Board then the more likely you can be a touch more aggressive. GL

When you flop a monster, how much you make has very little to do with how you play the hand and very much to do with what your opponent has.

If every time you flop a full house or better you play the hand as if your opponent also flopped a great hand or big draw, you'll probably make the most in the long run.

I mean, think about what you're asking. If the villain has trash, they're unlikely to put money into the pot. Obviously sometimes they'll try to take a stab at it, but in general, it's just not gonna happen.

I guess what you guys are saying makes sense, I was mainly curious if it is a better line to play "passively" to try and induce a bluff, or be aggressive and hope they call. And it seems like the answer to that is "it is situational".

if your monster blocks other potential strong hands (like AT on AAT or KK on K64), slowplay. If your monster unblocks other potential strong hands (like 66 on A64), bet enough to be able to shove on the river (might require some overbetting). If your monster blocks some, but not too many potential other strong hands (like flopped flush or top two on wet board), play it like a std value hand.

Yeah, you're 100% about it being situation. If it's someone who you've seen float or be sticky post flop, then bet into them and hope to get money that way. If it's someone that stays in much more when they get to initiate action, then check to them and hope they bet out. Play your opponent.
