Dubbing English strat videos, what is a fair compensation? Dubbing English strat videos, what is a fair compensation?

Hi, member of a stable that is asking me to dub some of their english strat videos (around 3.5 hours in total), and as compensation they´re offering me 20% extra of the profit for the following 4 months, altho I get paid nothing if i somehow don´t make profit on that time frame.
In average i know before hand that:
-My ev before splitting 15usd/hr
-My ev after splitting 7.5 usd/hr
-I play in ave 100 hours per month ie monthly ev 1500 usd before split
-monthly ev 750 ev after split

So this would mean that the ev of me doing the work would be 1.2k usd which is around 57 usd/hr of work (think i need 6 hours of work per 1 hour of dubbing, but never did it before)
So if I run close to ev ofc its a great deal for me, but if i happen to barely or not profit in these 4 months, then they would freeroll me.

Is it fair to ask a compensation with some kind of formula like:
Payment = Max (15 % of the winnings Sep-Dec, 60 usd/hr dubbed)?

There’s only one right way to do it: they pay you in $ (or different currency) for the work you do and you list that money as income when you file your taxes.

Dubbing some videos has nothing to do with playing poker and your compensation should not be based on your success at the table.

That wouldn’t be different from them paying you based on the performance of the Dallas Cowboys during week 2 of the NFL season.

It’s a weird way to pay him, but it seems like a pretty good deal. Do you think he could negotiate better than $1200 for 3.5 hours of dubbing?

What language are you dubbing? You should take a flat rate for your time. Dubbing poker videos is not related to actually playing poker.

Never ask for a percentage of profit or you won't see a dime. Always ask for gross if you're going to do a deal like this.

They could get out of paying you (especially if it's enough money) by opening a shell corporation and shoveling all the expenses onto it (which will include some form of payment or wage to the people who owe you money). The income from the videos won't exceed these expenses and the corporation won't show any profit for those 4 months and you won't get a dime for your work. It's called Hollywood Accounting and it's legal.

No, the deal is to give him a higher % of his winnings on the stake that he is on.

I think most of these replies are just terrible. *If you trust* the leadership of your stable, this is absolutely a deal worth considering. If you're concerned about getting freerolled, tack on a (relatively low) minimum payment and make the deal, say, $500 cash or 20% cut for 4 months, whichever is higher. That way even if you go on an extended downswing you won't be completely left out in the cold on your work.

Of course if you'd rather, you could just try to negotiate a flat rate deal -- it's an entirely reasonable approach. But the deal on the table is at least worth considering.

Jesus christ the replies in this thread are terrible. Sounds like a great deal if you run at EV, you may even run above EV.
