Hi guys,

Just wanted to find out if we still calculate odds of hitting our draw on the turn/river this way in Omaha/Omaha8?

Thanks

The "rule" is only a rough guide for hands with limited outs, in Omaha when you can have something like AKQ9ds on a JT2 board with one flush draw, and we then get a second flush draw on the turn which otherwise bricks, you can get into situations very easily where it will overestimate your chances

Then again as you'll only ever be facing a pot bet it shouldn't matter too much when it's telling you that you have the odds to call a pot bet

The rule of 2 and 4 is best for hold ‘em. After the turn, the probability you hit an out on the river is (100/46) *X % where X is the number of outs and 46 is the number of remaining cards in the deck (= 52- 2-4).

The 2x rule is simply using the fact that 100/50 is close to 100/46. The same idea applies to the 4x rule but in a more complicated way.

For Omaha, there are 44 remaining cards in the deck after the turn so the approximation is not as good. Also, estimating your Omaha outs is much more complicated.

As you can see ... yes .. and no ... It's a good rule for evaluating the 'current' situation. Of course in PLO you may have multiple draws contributing to your outs count. The biggest thing to remember with The Rule of 2 and 4, especially on the Flop (x4), is that it doesn't take into consideration any Implied Odds or additional chips you may need to contribute in order to see the River once the Turn comes out. So the rule is mistakenly ignored unless you are facing an all-in bet.

This rule is a very basic rule for playing ABC poker and should be used as such accordingly. GL

Yes, it does.
Counting your chances of winning a poker hand can be a hard time. But there is an easy way to get a good approximation, which can be done in a warm moment - even if you do not consider yourself a genius mathematician.
Rule Two and Four helps you calculate your chance for winning hands, which in turn informs your decision whether to call, raise or fold.
