Ive gotten to a point where ill get up early and say im going to grind 7-8 hours a day, but lately all ill do is lay in bed watch twitch, go on instagram ,and watch youtube all day. I have no motivation because playing poker for 8 hours a day is really a hard grind. Im thinking about buying a tv so i can have twitch or a movie playing in the background while i play so i can be semi distracted while playing, so its not so much of a grind, i know it may reduce my win rate but its better playing slightly distracted then not playing at all.

i think of it like this if you had a regular 9-5 and your boss allowed you to watch tv or check social media and relax while working, i think your job would be alot less stressful.

What do you guys think is it a good ideal or waste of money?

If you are playing poker for 8 hours a day as a job then you are perfectly capable of scheduling it as something that doesn't seem like a job

Some people can't manage to work well enough when the music (Youtube or not) or TV (the commercials are a pain and they run on all channels more or less the same time) is on while the others use it all the time.

I have to use the TV or music all the time. I use cordless over-ear headphones. I have two of them; the other on TV and the other on the computer. I have a 3rd possibility also on my music device.

Most flats have many kinds of noise disturbances and if I would use only silicone hearing protection, I would hear low vibrating background noise and in the last two flats also a kind of a shower sound (plus the floors are often vibrating more or less).

Have to be careful of not getting hearing damage in the long run as that would cause noise that never stops. So, a subtle balance is needed.

The other reason is that the constant grind is one-sided and might drive one crazy.

Yeah there's a reason if they usually don't allow that (unless you're on pause).

perhaps you should buy a goat and pat it while playing online poker.

I use noise-canceling headphones and listen to music and the tables once in a while to change things up, especially when I am on a downswing and just need to be in the zone.

i grind with documentaries & lectures on youtube at 2x speed then pause when I see a big hand developing, or have 3-4 tables with hands going down at once. its nice, since most times ur just watching/listening and carrying out automated decisions. ofc, if ur working on ur game , u need 100% focus. at some point MOST things become familiar

I cant play while litening to music, after some time it distracts me because I always want to sing along haha! When I play online poker I always put earbuds in my ears, so I can focus more, am I weird?

Music isn't a distraction, it's a PED.

Go get a dead end job with little bit more than minimum wage per hour. You will be begging to be sat down at poker table feeling bored.

you gotta learn to love hard work not hate it. it starts with a belief that you love it.

actually going and doing that for awhile would be good. it might help you develop a work ethic with assistance from employers and or other employees.

you will get more money too since your not logging the hours at the moment playing poker.

I like listening to trance music when i play. But I tend not to have the TV on or YouTube etc in the background as i find those very distracting.

So since i started this thread about a month ago ive only played 40 sitngos as we speak i have twitch and instagram open in the background fml. i think i have a addiction to be honest.
