Let's say I deposited using my mother's credit card that we both have a bank account merged together to play on a poker site for example "William Hills poker" or any other poker sites is this legal?

The account is registered in my name but the credit card used to deposit isn't.

Could this cause problems if I want to withdraw?

I wouldn't do it. I imagine it would be very difficult to withdraw that money. I have also heard people have issues when withdrawing from William Hill (I had no problems, but I used my own credit card).

I just thought it wouldn't be that big of a deal especially since it was with a family member we both have the same last name and can prove that we both share a bank account together...

Can they close my account for doing that? I mean if it was that big of a deal why would they let anyone deposit without verifying that names first?

Because companies that operate with a profit motive tend to like receiving money, but don't like giving it out.

Your best policy in these sort of matters is to just be honest. If the card is legit and your name/address details also are, you shouldn't have any problems, although you sometimes might have to do some additional things to prove your identity. (Sending utility bills etc).

P.S. In this case, I would wonder why - if you and a family member have a joint account - you don't have your own credit/debit card, and wanted to use your mother's. It arouses the suspicion that you're underage.

Thank you for the thorough post, the reason I used my mother's card is because I was at a different place and didn't have access to my card so I used her's I didn't think anything of it but I can provide all the information to prove all of the things (Billing, age, etc...)

I will let you guys know how it pans out in the future.

Yes this is going to cause an issue. Gambling companies run electronic checks to verify ownership of payment methods. If they can't process one of these checks they should be requesting a photo of the front of the card [first 12 digits blocked out]. Obviously if you provide a photo of a card in a different name your account will be partially or completely suspended. The least you will be required to provide is proof from the bank that the card is related to an account in your name. I'm sure there is a stipulation in the site t&cs about using payment methods in your own name only.

Use Paypal to deposit and withdraw with the card that way it isn't registered to the poker site. They will likely just lock or remove that card now , as sites don't like you using cards not in your name that are registered to the site. Much easier to just open your own bank account.

You would have thought with the OP's thread creation history he would know everything that you need to know about depositing and withdrawing from poker sites by now
