Making bigger 3bets OOP Making bigger 3bets OOP

Hi guys,
I see more and more players at higher stakes making very big 3bets OOP. As an example:

- BU opens 2BB
- SB 3bets to 10BB

Whats is the point behind these large 3bets OOP compared to a standard 3,5x or 4x 3bet? How our 3bet strategy (linear/polar) inluences these big OOP sizings? Is it better at microstakes to stick to a standard 3bet sizing due to rake and cause people overfold already to a standard 3bet size?

Thanks!

Lower spr negates some of the positional advantage of the btn... i.e. larger sizing should increase OOP overall ev

Thanks for your replay.

With this you mean, the bigger sizing makes it unattractive for villain to call with speculative hands? Does the lower spr than on the other side mean that we should use a linear range?

Can you elaborate on this please? Thanks.

Yes.
Yes.
Positional advantage is greater the higher the SPR (depth). By choosing large sizing OOP we intentionally lower the SPR and negate some of that positional advantage. Basically our R value should increase where R is equity realization.
