AK vs A10 can't hold up to make 6 straight cashes while 6-tabling. BR ~$211 - about 5 days in from $30'ish.

Has anyone tried NitMagnets stairway to heaven?
How likely do you think it is to reach the 100$ goal?
How many shots do you think a player with 1 year micro-experience needs to reach the 100$?
01-27-2008 , 08:43 AM
7th for $52. So $61.51 total BR.
Blew a shot at top 3 with a bvb steal that got reraised. Really dumb. Almost nobody had a clue even at the FT and I couldn't fold. (all the stacks were pretty similar as well)
But on the good side I didn't lose and managed to cook a roast and play at the same time.
Over 10x my starting roll but long way to go to catch Gina

LOL I was a favourite there (I had AJ74)

Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 500000 sampled boards
cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV
4s 7c Ad Jh 191633 321751 177008 1241 31935 186526 1334 0.535
As 2c 3d 5h 156626 177008 321751 1241 229149 22952 1334 0.465

BUT I was lucky he had as bad a hand as he did. Even swapping the 5 for a K is terrible:

pokenum -mc 500000 -o8 ad jh 7c 4s - as 2c 3d kh
Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 500000 sampled boards
cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV
4s 7c Ad Jh 118126 254921 241299 3780 49866 185455 4390 0.411
As 2c 3d Kh 207204 241299 254921 3780 220437 14570 4390 0.589

Add to that the fact that I was in the SB, had a near-average stack and a full round to get a better opportunity, as well as the general donkishness that would probably have moved me up at least one spot and I think it's a fold

Bankroll now at $472.01

Forgot how soft they were.

Had forgotten that OPR works for Ongame.

SWEET nice job

I read this thread and decided to see what I could do with the $10 ub gave me. I'm grinding it up nicely and I'm wondering what the requirements are to be able to actually cash out the money you win off it. Do sites only restrict the $10 they gave you to cash out? or the money you won with it as well?

awesome sputum! Now that is exponential growth!!

I've been playing 5nl today, and managed to lose 20 bux over a series of heinous coolers where the money went in preflop. So, I think I'm going to use my free T-dollars and play a few 4/180s.

It's great, if I wasn't doing this thread I'd not have been playing those tourneys!
Will probably leave it until next weekend and hit those tourneys again but will keep an eye on your progress. GL

why do you not try 11 $ 15 k guaranteed they are pretty soft and players are sooo bad and if you are running good in the end you could maybe win the 1st prize for 6 k obv

btw, what is T-dollar?
01-27-2008 , 06:46 PM
T-dollars are tournament dollars.

If you play a sattelite to a larger tournament and win the seat, yet later unregister- that tournament buyin is credited to your account as a "tournament dollar".

Then, when you register for tournaments later, the money is first deducted from t-dollars, and later from cash.

I haven't been much of a tournament player, which is why I've stuck to the baby-donks. Maybe next weekend I'll have worked up the courage to play anything over 4 bux.

There may be a play-through requirement before you can withdraw the $10 they gave you, but definitely any money you win on top of the $10 is yours.

Been keeping an eye on this thread Gina and wishing u all the best of luck. I maybe try something similar in next few days. I think i spelt that wrong but GL to you.GO GO.

If you guys want to make the most money in short amount of time, switch to 6max NLHE because it's so much easier to exploit the bad players. There really isn't a reason why some of you don't even have a $500 roll after one year of playing. Read the strategy forums and get good at that ****.

Also, don't bother with microstakes LHE because it takes way too long to win money from those, unless you REALLY want to. You're better off short-stacking the no-limit games, which shouldn't be too hard if you just play tight.

I'm trying to build a BR with $0. So far I have 0.19 from a freeroll. It's kind of frustrating as I'm losing to all the donkeys. Had my pocket Kings cracked to 87 suited all in. Oh well, this is a test in discipline.

ok, update- I'm sitting at 510.00. Here is my graph for the day. Feels like I've been on a roller coaster.

GL Gina... I'm trying about the same thing at the micro SNGs. I traded $16 on Stars for $16 on FT, playing $2.25 non-turbo 9-person SNGs, ran it up to $101, and am currently bouncing between $90 and $100... I hope to get up to $150 before I move up to the $5.50s.

On Stars, I'm playing 100 $1.20 SNGs, just to see what kind of win rate I would have with that small of a sample size without regard to thinking about cash.

And, I pretty much gave up on the 1c/2c games lol.

Nasty downswing today. 35 games and 19 bubbles all but two of which I was WAY ahead in the hand that took me out.

BR ~120. Gotta do some rebuilding.

30-210-120 beats the hell out of 30-zero. You got a good start (as we all have) so you can afford this hiccup.

Gina, Love/Squalor, everyone else--

Good luck! I'm glad some of you enjoyed reading the 5 -> 1000 thread.

Please feel free to post any questions in that thread, or just PM me. I've answered a bunch of newbies' questions lately, and I enjoy doing it.

Also, let me echo what many others have said: there really is no limit to what a skilled, determined player can accomplish. Of course, acquiring the skill and executing the determination is the hard part, but the happy converse is that bankroll issues are sort of secondary. Knock on wood, I've gone from near-pokerbroke to overrolled for my $60 SNGs in a month or so.

One other thing is that I can do anyone who needs it the very small favor of buying PokerStars tournament dollars at 100%. I recommend SNGs for bankroll-building, but should you find yourself playing cash games or simply preferring to have dollars and not T$, shoot me a PM.

I always worry I'll sound self-absorbed if I presume that people want to ask me things... so let me just say that if that's the case, post in the BBV thread or PM, and I'll try to get back to you.

All my best,

--Nate

hmm, I've been playing FR because I thought it'd be easier for starting out. My huge leak so far is calling big river bets and getting beat.
01-28-2008 , 03:44 PM
Yay Nate!
Although I'm just heebing up $5 on an old account it really has shown me how badly I play a lot of the time playing like a robot, not concentrating, impatient or cowardly. Even a fake busto focuses the mind I guess.
And I'll put more work into finding soft tourneys from now on. Micro PLO8 does seem to be an unfair game for the fish (a la Ray Zee's PLO8 'section' in Hi-lo split for advanced players)
01-28-2008 , 05:23 PM
Gina,
I mean this in the nicest way possible.. DONT PLAY $50NL.
You can most likely beat $50NL if you beat 25NL play is not that different

I believe that bankroll management is probably 50% of the skill at micro stakes.
Without you will lose.

Now if only I could take my advice.
