Build a bankroll from Build a bankroll from

Ok- time to start playing poker again after a haiatus. Since it's been a few months, and I've played live poker in the interim, I plan to rebuild from the $35 I left in Stars after my withdrawl.

As before, I hope others building bankrolls join me and post their progress/get encouragement.

The plan:

1. to grow a bankroll rom $35.00 using good bankroll management

2. to avoid being owned by the uber-donks of 2nL so my graphs aren't humiliating.

3. to start with full ring games, til I get my feet back under me.

Today's Progress: (yes, I'm so weak-tight in 2nL it's sick, but what the heck it works)

good luck to you man, will be following

I'm cheering for you, good luck. I started off like that too, except proper bankroll management wasn't in my vocabulary yet heheh.

GL again Gina... what happened to your BR?

I'm still stuck at $50 and $1.20 SNGs. lol

I'm currently trying to build a roll from $0.00, fun stuff.

It funded my 3 week cross country adventure

Week in vegas, shows, hotels across country, etc. etc. Man I know how to spend!

Good luck to you!

I started with $35 back in February, have cashed out all I deposited (threw an extra $100 in for bonus purposes in March) and have my BR up to $380 with zero out of pocket spent. Mind you, I have been exploiting bonuses to the max, so it's not like I won all that.

If you can bonus whore around, go for it! And if you have the discipline to deposit money you can't lose chasing a reload bonus or some such, (and not dip into those $$$), do it!

BTW: That's a hell of a win rate. Good day indeed!

I hate 2NL. So frustrating. I play better/win more at 50NL than I did at 2NL. I'm building my BR so I can move to 50NL permanently.

That's a nice winrate. How'd you do it? Seems to me the only way to beat it is to be a super nit.

Good luck!

How I've been playing is this..

I place myself in the bottom center of a full ring table. Unless I'm in the hijack, cutoff, or on the button (see the button to my immediate left, and since i cascade tables this is easy)- there better be a damn compelling reason for me to play a hand. (i.e. pocket pair or AK - or AJs AQs in an unraised pot).

Then I proceed to play a weak-tight game. I fold hands that don't improve to any resistance- because I have ZERO ablity to put 2nL players on ranges of hands usually. However, if it's a limpfest, like it usually is- i put positional pressure on the other players, and have won more than my fair share of hands without showdown. I also bet on scare cards- and interestingly it doesn't even have to be an appropriate sized bet most of the time (like more than 30% of pot).

This being said- I've never known this to work outside of 2nL and 5nL full ring games - or the very smallest casino live games.

Update. This graph contains all of Thur-Fri.

Current Poker Balace: 84.00- yeah i've been running hot. thank goodness, hopefully i'll get out of 2nL soon.

Yay!
Looking through my accounts to participate in this again but the only candidate is PokerRoom with 87 cents and that's not even enough to sit down at any of their cash tables. If I can freeroll or tinytourney it up to $2.50 then it'll be game on.

Best strat is to run hot at the begi... oh I see you've already done that

Go rape those micromorons good. Or luckbox a huge $2 MTT again. Seems that threads like this are +++karmaev and iirc most people who joined did pretty well.

EDIT: F it I'm depositing $10 and going from $10.87

I'll join you again, started it last time with a bit more but managed to get it up to over $150 in a few weeks just because I didnt go on tilt at all and had alot of motivation from the thread. Starting with just under $11 which is a bit of a gamble but hopefully i'll be okay playing $2NL for a bit, don't know what my stratergy will be yet but Ill probably grind $2NL until I get to about $30 then might switch to SNG's and throw in the odd 45 man or MTT. Might even try those crazy 10c 360 man MTTs

Starting Balance:

Good luck all

day 1:

the story: i hit one set in 1300 hands. thats it.

i play scrabble from now on
05-03-2008 , 12:03 PM
I recently just did this (and still doing it)

I had 3 dollars in my account, played ONLY .01/.02 exclusively, until it got to $10 and I started multi-tabling .01/.02. As of right now, I'm grinding the $5.50 SNGs, trying to get the bankroll higher (I love playing cash games, but I can crush the small level SNGs, so I can build the roll there)

At 138 right now, hoping to hit $300 before June 15th

I've got $20 in my Stars account. I'll be trying to build it up by playing SnGs, ideally Omaha H/L ones.

Anyone got any experience of building a roll through satellites? I've heard this can be profitable on Stars.
05-03-2008 , 12:58 PM
With a small bankroll I think the $2.20 4 table sats to the 100k is a great bankroll builder, it pays out 6 seats and they are very very soft. I will hopefully be using these when I hit the $60 mark (is this too much of a risk?) to try and get to $110 so I can switch to single table $5.50 SNG's. I would also suggest when you get to 210 FPP's use them for the 2 table sat to the 100k which pays out the top 6 seats, I have made one before playing only 1 hand and these are stupidly soft.

Having a good day so far and will update after I finish my next session, the only problem I will have is the amount of hands I can put in each day, will only probbaly be around 500 as I work long hours and dont like to play more than 4 tables at once, Still will put in around 20k hands a month though and hopefully around 20 or so MTT's and 100 SNG's.
05-03-2008 , 02:50 PM
I have finished my first day and my total bankroll now stands at a massive $31.55, so trebble my starting roll. I played 722 hands of $2NL and won $12.16. I also had 150 FPP's so I entered 2 70 FPP sats and won 1 and used that $11 for 2 $5.50 SNG's. I came 2nd in one so bumped my bankroll up another $13.50.

My low for the day was when I was down to $5 after taking a few bad beats early on but came back strong and was up at one point to $16 profit but took another 2 outer so thats when I called it a day for today.

Anyone got any advice for me as to when to move to the $2.20 sats to the 100k as these are quite soft and I think It would be a great bankroll builder.
05-03-2008 , 02:58 PM
Nice first day
Better than mine transferred $34 for parity, down to $6.12 but 3/36/63 in a 10+1 PLO MTT populated by donkeys
No idea what you should do tho, just play what you win or win what you play
05-03-2008 , 03:13 PM
Jimmy, I love BR building with those 2.20 sats to the 100k as well. I hadn't tried those 210fpp to the sats before- but will now. I think I have about 1800 fpp in my account at the moment.

Sput!!! I do hope you join in again! Last time you did, you ran insanely well! I think once I get over $100 I might give a few tourneys a shot. I did a .10 cent one yesterday, and came in 50th out of 3100 or so.

Bigdonk, that was a good start I know it seems like almost nothing, cuz the $ is so low, but 7 ptbb/100 is a respectable winrate- ESPECIALLY when running cold.
05-03-2008 , 04:07 PM
keep it up sputum!
i'm down as well now: -1.65PTBB/100 over 2100.
i only win pots from the "intelli poker" guys. once sat down with 4 at a table. scary.
my problem is: i start to "feel" what i should do instead of thinking. and as a male my feelings normally misdirect me

The 210 FPP sats to the Sunday hundo are easy money, with 1800 fpp's you should make another $60-80 $T. Enjoyed reading your last thread and it'll be interesting to see if you can do it again.

How could I not go for this one lol
This time I've gone back to the site I started on but haven't played since 2006 which is a bit weird. They kicked some bathrobes in for tourney prizes for a small forum back then and I got one (for PLO) and it felt like I imagine a WSOP bracelet would feel (but scaled down a little) It's where I learnt to play poker.
And it still has some terrible players. Definitely worse than Stars
Warming up, $47.70 in account now

GL all.
