The theory for big bet poker is 90% simple here; if the open raise is about 2.5x the big blind, one can call with about the same hands he is open raising with (this might be more or not at all true in tourneys). Folding marginal hands if the open raise is any bigger.
This is based on the pot odds for flopping something, even when the range from non-implied part will regularly be dominated. But one is generally not going any further if one misses the flop, and this is why the pot odds make a major difference.
Fold offsuit Ax (and offsuit rag-kings) more liberally, as they do not hit the flop as often, especially if you (often incorrectly) intend to fold on (poor) flops vs. a continuous bet with a likely best hand (and showdown wins), and just like an idiot watching him to 100% c-bet you to death (the only way that works is to barrel and get lucky).
