m869er, this is a horrible hand even on the button. 9 handed deep, you need to begin with nut options. This hand is as close to nothing as it gets.

In a tourney and it is folded to me on the button, I would only raise this...and then , only if I knew that both blinds would fold close to 100%

I have to ask honestly, is this a spoof (troll). This hand is THAT bad.

we are UTG with A A 8 J

it is 9 handed. 100BB deep. just started so no reads on opponents.

how should we play this hand? It has a single suited A. which can make nut flush.

Hand one is garbage, fold

Raise the aces, one, its aces, two, they're not bad aces, you have a suit and some shots at a miracle straight as well

JNandez did some great videos (on YouTube) for PLO newbies. He talks about 3 components for a good starting hand: suitedness, connectivity and high card value. Hands with the highest quality have all of those. e.g. AAJT double suited or AKQJds. A K764 rainbow has very low playability, since it lacks the qualities of a strong hand.

What do you think about Jeff Hwang books for learning plo?

People playing hands like the first one from UTG 9-handed is the major reason why it's easier to make money in PLO than in NL where everybody has at least some basic idea about starting hands. Not only is it a crappy hand in general, but also one that costs beginners their stack when they make the second nut flush or the lower straight.

Hand 2 is actually a really good hand, aces with a suit and AJ/J8 also provide some straight possibilities. That hand has 47% equity against AAJT double suited and 48.5% against AAKKds. That's a RFI from any position even UTG 9 handed. Stack sizes only really matter to determine what we should do in case of a 3bet.

Well i am glad i am not the only one,i was against all people in jnandez discord chat group,as all others claim this is pure trash.I know some things are out

of date but,but just taking some advice from book like not to lose 100bb+

with bottom set or trips no kicker in single raise pot can make you better player

than microstake average.
