Question: Using this tool, Does risk of ruin go for the # of hands you input for your standard deviation and winrate? For example, I input my stand deviation and winrate per 100 hands and a RoR of 50%, would the answer mean I have a 50% chance of going broke every 100 hands?

No.

If your risk of ruin is 50%, then this means that if you were to be playing at the same stakes indefinitely, then your risk of going broke is 50%.

I prefer this calculator.

It's difficult to grasp this concept, can you explain with some detail why? I thought that if you played forever, then as long as your RoR was >0% then you have a 100% chance of going broke... at some point.

Only losing players go broke 100% of the time.

If your risk of ruin (RoR) is 2%, then this means that there is a 98% chance that you can player poker for the rest of your life without having to redeposit. However, the risk formulas only apply if you never change stakes. They do not apply if you routinely change stakes when you hit a rough downswing. In that case, there is less chance that you will go broke.

Your risk of ruin is just the probability that you will bust your roll at some point. It may happen when you're 90 years old, but it's probably unlikely if you've lasted that long.
