Is it still possible to make money with online poker in 2023? Is it still possible to make money with online poker in 2023?

I played online poker from 2010 to 2015, the last year full time. It was my first job so I didn't have the consistency to do it well. I was beating NL25 and have a good ROI in MTT with an average stake of 10 EUR. I didn't make a lot of money but probably I was making 30$ per hour or something like this with minimum effort.

How much can people make playing now? I live in UK so all the winnings should be tax free. I have much better professionality after I worked an office job for 10 years. I am in a dead end job so I was considering to switch to poker again.

Thoughts?

You can still make money, especially $20-$30/hr, online in a bunch of very achievable ways these days. If you're looking to make serious money, though, it's rough. I would advise you to slowly get back in, learn some modern strategy, and see if it's something you want to learn and commit to. It will likely take some time and effort before you're a winner at anything besides super micros.

It's certainly not like the old days, where anyone with a pulse could be a large favorite even at midstakes. The online landscape is very competitive now and there isn't that much money floating around.

Returning to poker after a hiatus and considering it as a potential profession is a decision that requires careful consideration.

While it's true that some individuals can make a living playing poker, there are several factors to keep in mind:

1) The poker landscape has evolved, and competition has likely become tougher. You'll need to assess your current skill level and identify areas for improvement. Continuous study and adaptation are crucial.

2) Playing poker professionally requires a significant time commitment. Consider how much time you can dedicate to playing, studying, and staying up-to-date with the latest strategies.

3) Ensure you have a financial cushion to handle potential downswings or periods of reduced income. A transition to professional poker can be risky, and having a safety net is crucial.

4) Assess if there are alternative career options or educational pursuits that align with your interests and long-term goals. Having a backup plan can provide security.

Before making any decisions, you may want to start by playing poker part-time while maintaining your current job. This will allow you to gauge your current skill level, adapt to the current poker landscape, and assess the feasibility of a transition to professional play.

RTA is becoming more prevalent. Just saw a twitch streamer accidentally share his 2nd monitor with GTOw and something inputting hands for him automatically for faster results.

There are plenty of online 'for profit' Players in Michigan .. so I'm told. But they do have to monitor all the sites and kind of chase the action for that day. Some only play tournaments on a site while they do both on other sites due to Player Pool dynamic.

I assume that NJ, DE, NV and PA all have similar landscapes as well .. with most of the action happening 2nd/3rd shifts. GL
