All IN EV - what does it represent? All IN EV - what does it represent?

Hey guys,

I am wondering about how accurate or realistic an all in ev graph is.

Lets say i am a fairly aggressive player and a big chunk of my money is made by stealing pots and blinds without going to showdown. will these hands be represented in the all in ev graph. Sorry for the stupid question but im just beginning to use HM2 and trying to understand what all the stats actually represent.

In general my question is can you be playing winning poker and your all in ev is going down or is that something impossible?

thanks for the help.

All in ev only accounts for situations when 2 or more players are all in with cards still to come.

If your graph is negative that means you are often getting all your money in when behind. However if your opponent folds, then that isnt accounted for. The strategy of picking up a lot of small pots but being behind in the big ones is exactly what doyle brunson advocates in super system, although games where this strategy still works are probably not all too common. It may be possible to win this way still, but its not part of the strategy normally advocated on 2+2.

In all the hands where one of the players has 100% equity in the pot (either by showdown or getting a fold) the EV line moves the same amount as the winnings line. Only when there is an all in situation where cards are left to come do you get a difference between the EV and actual winnings.

So if you're winning a lot of pots without showdown your EV line goes up as well, unless you're actually not profitable. So no, in a big enough sample you can't be a winning player when your EV line goes down.
