Hi

100bb stacks
Villain 3b% 70%
Villain calling range vs 4b shove - 15%

- Holdem - 2 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

Hero (SB): 178 BB
BB: 101 BB

Hero posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has Q 9

Hero raises to 2 BB, BB raises to 11 BB, Hero raises to 178 BB and is all-in, fold,

According to All In Expert my EV is +2.72BB assuming there is no rake, how does the pokerstars Rake effect the EV?

Here he 3b's to 9bb instead of 11bb. My 4b shove EV is +1.93bb, and again ho does rake effect this EV?

lets assume pokerstars Rake at nl50

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Just thinking now....the rake shouldn't effect teh EV that much no? because he folds to the 4b like 80%, so 20% of the time the pot gets raked...

I don't know the software "All In Expert". Can you just tell it to subtract the rake from the total pot size in its calculations? Or do it manually and input the smaller pot size?

Or use a program to get the equity of Q9s vs. his calling range and then do the calculation manually.

But from where is the assumption that he is 3betting 70% coming? That's a really high 3 bet percentage.

Hi, Thanks for answering.

there isn't an option to subtract the rake from pot in All In Expert unfortunately.

And yes, 70% 3b is CRAZY. I have been playing a villain like this HU the last few days, which is why i'm doing some of these calcs
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the math that the software gives. This is Q9s vs the 9bb 3b.

Hand Combos Equity EV Formula

Q9s 4 0.377 1.93 =(0.7879*5.5)+(1-0.7879)*(0.3767666*(5.5+3.5+2*46)-(3.5+45.5))

Villain opens 70%, calls all-in 15% (of all hands). So they're calling our shove 15/70 = 21% of the time.

The max rake is 0.75$ (=1.5 BB) in Stars 50NL heads-up games, if I'm reading their site correctly. If the opponent folds, no rake is taken since there's no flop.

The times we lose the hand, we lose no extra EV to rake. The times we win, we lose max rake. The times we split the pot, we lose half of the max rake (villain pays the other half).

Against a top-15% range, Q9s wins 36% of the time, loses 63% of the time and ties 1% of the time. So the amount of rake we expect to lose per hand is 21% * 36% * 1.5 BB + 21% * 1% * 0.75 BB = 0.115 BB.

You should not be 4b shoving very much in general and certainly not with a hand like Q9s.

I think vs this specific villain, assuming he won't adjust much...that you should be 4b shoving quite a lot.

However I am open to listen to other strategies on how to pwn this villain?

EDIT: Also just to add, when hes 3b 11bb instead of 9bb...seems like no brainer to have wide 4b shove range? calling 11bb 3b's seems bad with marginal hands esp considering his aggression postflop.

Q9s would probably be a snap flat vs both 9 and 11bb, but you'd much rather 4bnai than 4bs at 100+ effective. If you want to 4bs anything it would probably be some offshoot Ax and some pocket pairs, that's about it.

What r u doing with hands like 74s, q6o etc...

Open/4bai is better than open fold. Open/fold obv is terrrible. Open/4bpot or thereabouts seems terrible as the guys fold to 4b is almost non existant vs this size and postflop he is kinda crazy, feel like u will get outplayed a lot.

Open/c with 74s, q6o is going to be difficult AF...he has high cbets, and takes x/r lines and x/c dont turn lines...real tricky/spewy villain
