Yes, your edge will be smaller so your roll should be higher.
Also, when you multitable some tables will do very well and others not so well. The good tables will accumulate chips and you won't want to leave the table to bank them back into your roll. So although they more than counter the losses on other tables, you need enough bankroll behind to be able to fund the loss making tables (due to variance) and open new tables to replace some loss making tables (due to tough opponents).
To take an extreme example, you cannot play 24 tables with a bankroll of 20 buyins. And even a smaller number of tables will see imbalances happen as your bankroll shifts over to the good tables, which you don't want to leave.
So, as a rule of thumb you should add 1-2 buy-ins per extra table you play. That way you have enough behind to accommodate the swings between tables and keep the most lucrative tables open.
