some people try and sponge from this forum but give nothing back. what they dont realise is that in helping others they actually help themselves get better at poker.

do you really think that people have thousands of posts just because they like helping people out? as honorable as some peoples intentions might be, most of us post because we are trying to improve/tweak/tailor our own game. personally, it works for me and i cant help but laugh a little when people with low post counts bitch and moan about losing money without showing any evidence that they are actually okay at poker or they have tried to get better. the poker industry is built upon denial. dont be a sucker or let your ego get in the way.

a high post count doesnt always mean good player but there is a correlation. posts who post alot in strategy forums usually get better at poker. honestly, it seems like every 5 minutes that we get people come on here, complain about bad beats but they show little evidence of actually trying to get better at poker.

SELFMADE, i dont know you or how good you are at poker but ask yourself if this thread is helping you get better at poker?

oh and dont forget that the people who run the forums make money from advertising and selling books n stuff.

so bearing that in mind please go to the twoplustwo bookstore and buy a book to increase 2+2s revenue...er i mean to get better at poker.

theres also an argument that if you give a little fish some fish food that he will grow a little bigger so he is worth catching.

of course, if you dont feel like contributing to any strategy discussions they we have forums for that as well......just remember that they'll soulcrush you if you are weak.

Some of Those Non-Strat Forum are some the most entertaining on the web. I have kinda been addicted to OOT and BBV4L lately. I should prob start getting back to the Start Forums...LOL

But I always come back to Beginners to help out the newer players and get usually end up getting some good advice myself.

How about the Mods. What do you guys get out of it? I was just wondering do you get some sort of payment for your hard work or is it all pro bono? When you add up all the different forums on 2+2 there are a lot of Mods.

I agree with this. But there are probably still some concepts in NLHE that would make a lot of players better almost instantly and aren't discussed too much in public.

That being said there's always going to be a part which either cannot be taught very easily, like psychology or things that have to be practiced, like quickly matching ranges to boards.

agreed. entertaining yes. likely to make you better at poker....probably not. they do certainly have their place and are very popular

if mods are paid i must have missed that memo but we do get to wave our banhammer around and abuse the role so it has its perks

theres alot of people who want to become a moderator and do it for free so they can play with the cool kids...but the reality is that if you ahve to ask to become a mod then you probably wont.
