Hello!

I am just looking for some information on getting my hud set up correctly. What stats on your opponents are you most keenly interested in and why.

If you play cash NL 6 max, Harrington on 6max NL cash online has several chapters devoted just to this.

Depends so much on what sample size i have. I have Vpip/Pfr/Steal/3B/Fold3bet/Cbet/Foldcbet on my hud. everything else in popups. Some stats are totally useless without a good sample, that you never get in the micros (like 4bet stats for example you need 2k+ hands) and might even make you to make the wrong play, you have to be very very careful using them. In general only use stats when your decision is close.

3Bet stat for example i dont even look at it much before 400-500 hands unless he is totally out of line, like someone who never 3bet over 150 hands is 3betting me, i give him bit more credit. Also take into consideration the positional stats some guy might have a really high 3bet but he's only doing it against steals and never did 3bet on the BTN in 500 hands for example.

Mine look like this:

Cash games:
Name/Winrate/No. of hands
VPIP/PFR/3-bet/ATS/Fold vs Steal
c-bet/turn c-bet/fold to flop c-bet
Donk bet/WTSD/AF

For basic colour-coding, I can get a good idea of a player from VPIP/PFR and AF, and only really look at the other stats when I'm making a specific play, like 3-betting against a steal, or thinking about barrelling or floating.

For tourneys, I replace the top line with:
Name/big blinds/M/no. of hands
Stack size is so important in tourneys that bb and M (especially my own!) have to be looked at every hand.

Are yo colour coding by the type of player the villain is? I generally just colour code fish.

Just curious to see how much time you have to evaluate somones stats before you make a decision. I.e more tables = less time.

I colour-code everyone. My HUD is colour-coded like traffic lights (red for tight stats, yellow for medium, green for loose) and then I colour-code players with Stars halos.
I think it's more important to colour-code regs than fish, tbh. I want to be able to immediately see who are the nits and who are the decent TAGs. Most fish will be busto before I've got a significant number of hands on them, but the regs are the players I need good reads on.

I think I already have a quite small hud.
I try to have as little stats as possible on my hud. Its distracting and I pay more attention to the players with less but I guess thats just personal preference. There are many very good players who have a "small hud" like nanonoko when you look at his hud in video its super simple some others have very complicated hud with 1000 stats and are playing very good.
Mainly its important to know on what stats you can rely on and what stats you can totally ignore depending on how many instances or hands you played with your opponent

I use the default (PT4) HUD because it is so east to click on full stats when I need them.

I use this for 6max cash, there are some other stats I track through the popup.

+1 to this, fish are usually obvious after 15 or 20 hands because they're the 50/5 players showing down 95o, but the difference between a bluffy super aggressive reg and a tag is not always clear so quickly.

For 6max cash I use:

Name/No. of Hands/VPIP/PFR
CBet Flop/Fold to Flop CBet/CBet Turn/Fold to Turn CBet
3bet/Fold to 3bet/Steal/Fold to Steal

The t cbet and fold to t cbet need a larger sample than the others but can help a lot against the regs.

Attempt To Steal and FoldToSteal highly underrated. Tells you who knows about position and who doesn't. Especially useful to tell tags from weaktight-players.

(and they converge pretty fast. if you don't have them you're missing out).

(also most post-flop stats (especially turn and riv stats) are highly overrated, because they depend so much on the actual board texture, and action).

True, for me steal is enough. because the players with a low steal % usually are not aware of the whole steal dynamic and because of that also fold too often vs steals. While players with a high steal % are aware of the steal game and fold less give you more trouble etc.

I used this video to set mine up then i made some adjustments to it like adding showdown, steal and fold vs steal stats along with turn betting paterns. But this video gives you a superb starting point.

3-bet vs BTN is useful.

I also used to have positional stats for preflop raises. There is a big difference between CO and BTN often and it shows who steals and their positional awareness.
