im watching some of the live coverage of this years wsop that i recorded a little while ago.....i want someone to teach me how to stare down someone like Ben Lamb does....I'll even consider the soulreading part of it an optional extra. The guy is a beast.

I have the single floating pickup model of the Ibanez, which has a much deeper tone and can be played acoustically as well...oh and it has a wooden bridge piece which you can see in my picture. I've actually had to replace the tailpiece twice from breaking under pressure (I use really heavy strings but am thinking it was just poorly designed), so I finally ordered a different style of tailpiece that I had to rig up to get to work but it has been great for the last 5 years or so.

The gibson I've had for about 7 years, and have never had a single problem with it. I've replaced the volume pot once and that is about it. You can see in my picture that there is no knob on the tone control and this was done purposely so that I could actually see how far it is turned without trying to read the numbers...that becomes hard when playing live. In my old band I would have specific tone marks that I wanted certain songs or riffs in songs to be played at and this was hard with the old knob. I've kind of lost the need for that anymore, but became used to adjusting tone with the knob off and have left it. You should really see the back of this guitar, it's all scratched up from lots of gigging, etc...there are even fairly large bumps on the neck at this point that I have grown used to almost to the point where playing a brand new guitar with a smooth neck feels weird to me. I regularly use tung oil on the back of the necks on my guitars as well.

Saw a GREAT show Sunday night by what is perhaps my current favorite band, Stars. Stood about two people back for the entire show and there was a LOT of crowd interaction and sing-along type stuff which was cool.
