$$$ v satellite balance (bankroll mgmt) $$$ v satellite balance (bankroll mgmt)

Wasn't sure where to post this, so thought here would be a good start.

I am predominantly a STT player, dabbling in MTTs where I have more time (family life and full time work prevents me dedicating significant consecutive chunks of time in one go - I normally squeeze in approx 15h per week 2 - 4 tabling).

I play the odd satellite, mainly for live events, but want to have a bigger crack at this. My question is how do people balance their bankroll in terms of allocating a portion for satellites versus sustaining a decent cash balance to build overall?

Well i'm not sure of an exact formula. I definitely don't have one. Assuming that you're a winning player at the STT that you say is your main game. You'd have to come up with an acceptable % of your winnings to put towards your sat/mtt play. For example. You start with $500 and at the end of the week you have 600 you would take 25%/$25 of that and put it into your SAT/MTT BR. That way you aren't eating into your playing BR just slowing your growth towards the next level of SNG play.
At least that's a strategy I've used in the past when I started realizing my MTT play was eating into my Cash BR. It really helped and motivated me to take my MTT play to the next level.

Good Luck,

If you weren't a winning player, makes it a moot argument doesn't it... :P

I will also devote some more $$$ to cash games soon to give that a whirl. Still interested in hearing how others approach this...
