A week ago, I was playing 2 tables of 4NL with a 1 buy-in bankroll. 
I certainly could have gone broke, but I also could (and indeed did) win at 40bb/100.
In some of Galfond's training videos he actually had every penny of his account spread across several tables (to the extent that he couldn't auto top-up after losing a hand). Naturally he could redeposit if he so desired, but where's the fun in that?
