Are There Still Online American Pros? Are There Still Online American Pros?

Are there regular, full time online US pros these days? Cash and MTT or just MTT? I have some experience and I've made some lifestyle changes lately...quitting both drinking and smoking. I have a lot more money to work with and much better discipline so I'm considering playing a bit again but want to know what the true ceiling is for someone like me if I were to put in a full time + effort into this again.

Thanks!

And what is the main reason for that at this point? RTA/Botting?

Nope, American market having been ****ed up by regulation for the past decade meaning there's **** all in terms of casuals playing, that and the main format of the game has been analysed so much that there's no edge at any level where anyone would be able to call themselves a pro

So why do I see all of this traffic on sites like WPN, BOL, and Global? It just doesn't seem right that the players grinding long hours each day aren't profiting well or why else would they do it?

BOL has a rake race and bad beat jackpot. I see some players win either or somewhat frequently just from putting in so much volume. You'd have to think these guys are making a decent chunk of money each year + whatever they manage to win in a tournament, no?

When you have tables full of pros and semi-pros (upper buyin levels), it's mostly about pushing money back and forth with the hope a whale joins to lose a buyin or two to offset the rake. (Don't be that whale)

At the lower levels, a decent chunk of money seems...... unrealistic.

I assume you were wildly successful online in the past to even assume you have a chance now.... so your mileage may vary. The online games available from the USA are not remotely the same as they were pre-Black Friday.

I know the games are infinitely harder today and I am aware of how much GTO has changed the way people play the game. I've played on and off a bit over the last few years. As hard as it is, though - do players still start in the micros and move up the stakes to a level where they are making like $50k+ in cash games? What about MTT's? I mean, anyone can bink and make their whole year but are there people who play MTT's online, full time, in the US today who manage to get by on nothing else?

If it's mostly semi pros and pros at the tables, then they must be earning enough to justify their time spent, right?

I'm looking through some of these cashout threads on here. I see some players making regular, large withdrawals. Again, are we saying that profiting nicely is possible but just significantly more difficult than in the past? Or are we still insisting that the game is rather dead as a whole for US players? I'm still confused...

Withdrawals are irrelevant without knowing about deposits

BAP, are you simply asking "Is it worth it to play online in the US?"

Only you can tell.

If you are asking "Can I (BecomingAPro) make a boatload of money playing online in the US?"

The odds are deeply against you making boatloads.

Spoiler:
How can people play so many hours a day online? They MUST be making money.

No. 'It's a hobby' is probably #1reason for MOST to play. A very select few can do OK.... which may turn out to be breakeven. A VERY small subset of the players can actual make a few bucks. Then there are the ten players that actually make the kind of money that is filling your dreams.

Chase away. We don't care. But reality is..... the odds are against any player doing what you are dreaming. A tourney bonk doesn't guarantee anything.

Spoiler:
Here you go: If you study hard for six months, you're a shoe-in to make it as a pro player.

My question isn't really centered around me. I'm asking if there are US online pros today. People who do this reliably as an income month in, month out. My question doesn't pertain to me or my personal financial dreams at all.

You may be able to understand why my answers (and why your quote above makes zero sense) seem to be about you.... and not some generic "Hey, anyone playing professionally in 2022?"

Squid answered your question with "Yes, there are US pros online" My mistake assuming you were asking the question to gauge the viability of YOU playing online at a profit.
