(originally posted in the wrong forum)

had a situation come up in my Home Tourney. A young lady who is new to live play was on the BU and shoved all in. The big blind called which made for a Heads up situation BU vrs BB. I was on the other table and did not witness the deal. I was called to the table at the river to make a ruling.

Everyone was talking at the same time and as best i could understand it, there were extra cards burned for the flop, turn and river. as the hand sat the Bu had the winning hand.

My thoughts on this situation, IMO it is not only the dealer but also the person or persons involved in the hand's responsibility to monitor the deal as the flop, turn and river come out. Since they didn't dispute the flop or the turn, I believed that those cards couldn't be changed after the fact. since I believe that an extra card had been burned on the river i said for them to take all the burns and the river card and re-shuffle, then burn one card and put out a new river card.

This changed the outcome of the hand and caused the young lady to loose and be knocked out of the tourney. Later i found out that there were no extra cards burned on the turn and river, what had actually occurred was she burned a card for all 3 flop cards. thus 3 burn cards for the flop.

I'm not sure how to make that situation right in the future, if I had complete information i would have most likely had them take the burns+flop+turn+river and reshuffle and re-deal proper but I'm not sure if that's right.

Any help with this situation would be greatly appreciated.

I think you just leave it as it is so I think you made the right decision.

But the Home Poker forum is at the below link. The regular posters there probably have more experience handling such things:

The Brick and Mortar forum is at the below link. They always have a lot of ruling decision posts, though they are usually from casinos.

Thanks! I've got it posted over there too, hope I get some official responses. I run a couple different games, one home tourney/cash game and then a poker league at a local bar. I've never had this situation come up before so, I'm a little in the dark.
