So I feel frustrated with the way things have been going lately. I wasn't playing the proper ranges, to begin with when I started but it seemed like I was on a roll just playing mostly good hands. I didn't really bother to play the button with marginal hands like A7o or Q8o I just didn't see the value in that because I just wanted to play better hands. Fast forward a bit and people caught on to what I was doing and stopped playing against me more often.

So I switched things up a bit I started to play the proper hands and ranges but it does feel more uncomfortable playing more marginal hands. I guess it is normal to feel comfortable playing with a set or basically the nuts but how do you steal those pots with marginal hands? If I am in the cutoff with 98o like with what the proper range I have says to play, I feel so unsure how to play post-flop with it because it's not the strongest of hands and I am spewing chips because of this unsure feeling.

Honestly, it's like the good rhythm I had going is lost now (not that it was the proper way to be playing, to begin with). I feel like I am relearning everything and I am spewing chips like crazy. How do I make this bleeding stop and get a proper rhythm to my game back? I've been 3 betting more because after the first 15000 hands played I was at only about 3, 3 bet. Still, I am not quite sure when the right time to 3 bet is. I know to 3 bet or fold in the SB now but what is the proper 3 bet range in the SB?

Also one last question, I know a lot of my opponents at 5nl have quite a few stats recorded on me now and they know that I've been playing a really tight game. So they have been folding to me more often. I guess the only way to overcome this is to play more proper ranges which I have been doing lately but it seems like they labeled me a nit and don't bother with me anymore. Is this normal to encounter starting off playing poker? Thanks have done ranting here.

Sounds like you may be falling into the trap of thinking you have to go aggressively after a pot with any hand you open. You should indeed raise preflop with the proper ranges, but it certainly is ok to just give up on a hand if the flop (or remaining run out) is unfavorable. For example, if you raise a marginal hand like KJo from the HJ and get called by the BB, on a mid to low connected two toned flop, you probably should just check back (assuming BB checked), unless you hit a good draw or made hand. Flops like T94 two-toned, or J65 suited simply hit your opponent’s range more than yours and you can safely just check back most of the time. On a flop such as the second one, a delayed cbet might work better (assuming a brick turn). An OOP player flopping a made flush or strong draw might check the flop hoping you cbet, but if they check the turn too, it is much more likely your top pair good kicker hand is ahead.

Even when you do get a good flop to cbet but haven’t made a hand (like A85 rainbow as an example with your KJo) after getting called, it may be best to just check back the turn and reevaluate the hand based on the river. Point is that you don’t need to fight to win every pot you open. Sometimes with marginal hands there is nothing you can do and it is best to just minimize your losses rather than stubbornly trying to push your opponent off his hand.

You don't have to and should not blindly follow a solver or set of ranges. If you're not comfortable playing certain hands postflop, it's completely fine to trim them from your opening ranges. Those edge hands are only minimally profitable anyway. And don't forget that many suggested ranges are based on assumptions about your opponent's calling/folding ranges--assumptions that may not hold very well at 5NL. Go back to playing tighter as you were before and you will probably be fine. Find spots to take advantage of your tight image with some lighter 3bets perhaps. good luck.

Most players that fail imo have certain common patterns . They are not motivated , weak mental game , they dont work hard , they dont want to invest in knowledge , they get info from too many sources and end up totally confused...90% (rough guess)

Do not seek comfort. We don't learn in comfort. Learning is uncomfortable. When bits of your game need major cranking in order to become profitable, that could feel distinctly uncomfortable. Seeking comfort is seeking to stay within a small box that can't hurt our feelings. Become comfortable with the idea of being in discomfort. When you learn new things, you won't be very good at them at first, and you'll make mistakes, and it'll be frustrating, but you have to stick with it, get over the hump, and then you'll be able to integrate new weapons. Such as playing weak hands in position, which I'd suggest is a basic minimum of being able to beat poker in the long run in 2023.
