Hi, I have been playing poker on and off for a few years now, however now looking to take it seriously.

I wanted to find out about rakeback and how this worked? I have previously signed up for this on a couple of sites however never received any rakeback.

As you play hands, a portion of the pot is takeb by the hosts - that is rake.

When you sign up to a site, perhaps through an affiliate (IpokerVIP, RakeTheRake are two examples), you will earn a percentage of the rake you pay as rakeback.

EG: In a given month or week, you rake $100. You have a 30% rakeback deal. You earn $30 rakeback.

Some sites pay weekly, others monthly. A lot of sites has T&C like microgaming where you need to rake $50 a week in order to get anything at all.

Oh, and dont get confused between a VIP system and rakeback. Stars has a VIP system and on its website proudly shows that for bronze star you earn "17% rakeback" - You dont get a flat rakeback payment everyweek... not to mention the 17% figure is far too high! Instead, you earn points which you cash in (Skypoker is similar I think)

What site are you looking to sign up for or have signed up for? Maybe someone can fill you in on the T&C for that site??.
