Playing at 2NL, moving up to 5NL, pros and cons of each? I've been reading around and last year many said PT3 was a HUGE disappointment and HEM was miles ahead, is this still the case and why?

I payed for PT3 and was severely dissapointed.

It's hard to say exactly what is wrong with it but in generall it is just clumsy and hard to use. It's very un user friendly. Also I wasnt convinced all the stats were 100% accurate as it had me playing a very different game as to what poker tracker 2 said. I could be wrong i never bothered checking against other software but a couple of stats didn't 'feel' right for my game.

Also it's HUD kept crashing or not updating.

Just got trial of HEM and it's sooooooooooo much better.

Imediately accessible, user friendly, clear, smooth, takes less cpu space, shows ev differential which is great because you can see if your just running lucky or unlucky over a period.

Better customer support, better graphs, pre loaded filters and explanations to help you leak plug.

Cant recommend it enough!!!

How many computers am I allowed to register this on?

If you buy PT3 you get to put it on two computers, but if you buy his old registration number I'm assuming you'd be his second computer, so just one.

I voted for HEM but I use both and each has its strengths.
I give the edge to HEM because of the HUD, which imo is much better than PT3. It is easy to customize and gives stats by position. It's also much easier to use when looking at previous hands while you are playing, and you can mark hands you want to look at later. The HUD is the reason I bought HEM. It's also nice to be able to see your all-in luck. If you can only get one, def get HEM.
On the other hand, I prefer to use PT3 when doing session reviews. I really like being able to write notes on hands I played, and in general I just find it much more user friendly when I'm replaying hand histories and all of that.

I dont own HEM, but I am very happy with my PT3. My PT3 currently gives stats by position.

I have no basis of comparison but I believe the PT3 HUD is extremely powerful. Although, to unlock the powers - you must be fairly computer savvy at the moment because the User Interface isn't really complete.

I think for the beginning user, either will be about the same as the other.

For me PT3 is a lot easier to use .

Within a day i had found everything I wanted to use by clicking around a bit.With HEM after a few days with it I am going to have to spend some time reading the instructions to find out where everything is.

Having said that i like HEM's HUD more so I am willing to spend the time to figure it all out.

Personally use HEM so I'm obviously biased to that

HM is seriously way better for micro players. Especially since you buy the micro version for only $45.

Don't take my word for it, just look at all the coaches on training sites like DC, stox, and CR who are switching to HM.

I use HEM, and I'm very happy with it. I highly recommend it.

you should use a hud as long as you can make reads and play without relying on it

I'd use PT3 in that case because it looks better, but it runs a little slower.

when you say it gives positional stats, does the vpip/pfr CHANGE every hand as the villian is in different position? or can u click the hud and CALL UP the positional stats?

Any updates on this thread? I personally use PT3. I have never had a problem with it, and the customer support is excellent. Am I missing out by not using HEM?

I just recently had to make the choice between the two.

PT3's free trial pretty much sold me however I plan on picking up HEM via rakeback offers as well. To me PT3's extremely generous free trial pretty much says hey we have an awesome program and we dont mind proving it. HEM also has a free trial but it is much shorter.

From my research for all but the most advanced users they pretty much offer the same thing. HEM has a lot more cool plugins that offered with the program, but most of them are also available for PT3 just not included.

For some thats a big deal, however, for me its just 5 more programs to try and upsell me for...and it is more of an annoyance.

But for 80-90% of the users they pretty much do the same damn thing.
