Hey! Im currently smashing out James Sweeney’s workbook and have hit a wall I can’t seem to figuire out on how to get over!

So bottom right it asks for the SPR would be villian called a $90 3 bet

The maths I have done is
Effective stack = $1000
$1000 - $90 call = $910

Effective stack / pot size =
$910 / $180 = 5.055555

My problem is, the answer in the work book is 4.9 and every other spr is slightly off compared to my calculations!

I’m calling it now, James has not messed up his own book and I’ve done something wrong lol!

Please help, I’m going insane
Thank you in advance

Include small blind.

910/185 = 4.9189

Thank you for taking the time to reply!!

I tried adding in the blinds for another question and it did not work?
Can you see what’s going on here?

$100 dollar 3 bet question
1250- 100 3 bet / 200 pot = 5.75

Adding in the big blind using your method sir

1250 - 100 / 210 = 5.47

The answer in the work book is 5.6 lol

Starting stack for co = 1280

Blinds are not stated, but assuming 5-10

If SB 3bets to 100, then pot otf would be 100+100+10 = 210 and effective stack is 1280-100 = 1180 so SPR = 1180/210 = 5.619

If SB 3bets to 120, then pot otf would be 120+120+10 = 250 and effective stack is 1280-120 = 1160 so SPR = 1160/250 = 4.64

It's a bad picture, because the CO is stated 30 on the table, but there isn't any number for the BB chips. It also should simply explicitly state the starting stack for the CO to remove all interpretation. It's also weird that it lists 30 for the CO RFI, but only shows one red chip and then presumably the BB is 10, but has two red chips.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EXPLAINING THIS TO ME!!!
They never included it in the explanation page, using a small blind vs bb 3 bet as an example.

This is the first question through out the book you’ve had to work out and include blinds!

Thank you again very much!

I agree that the picture isn’t good, but I think there is supposed to be a green chip under the red chip in front of CO. I’m not sure of this though; it’s kind of difficult to see - just a little crescent of green
