Ok, I know... Play money isn't real poker and the game is wildly different. However, I would like to discuss some strategy for pokerstars low stakes play money. Mainly for 20000NL and 50000NL.

Regular ABC poker doesn't seem to work there. Pocket jacks/tens, even queens, lose their value in multiway pots. Same with top pair/decent kicker. There will always be a villain with a better kicker or two pairs, trips, etc. C-betting when you miss the flop is allmost useless. They'll just call you and you'll lose. Αnd of course bluffing is completely counterproductive.

Any tips?

1) It would be better to play aggressevelly a very tight range (eg 10-15%) pre flop or to limp several hands in the hope to floping the monster?

2) Given that top pair/top kicker loses their value in 4-5 way pots, would it be better to overplay suited connectors?

3) Ideal bet size?

4) How to play pocket Q/J/T/9 pre?

??????

Your theory here is backwards.

Think about it for a second. You losing player good hands because your opponents play bad hands? If this were true then we would want to play bad hands since they apparently extract value from good hands.

Yes your (insert random good hand) will not win as often when you have many opponents so it may appear that they lose value but in reality it is a great situation because when you do win the pot is huge.

FWIW I am outspoken about play money poker. Many say it's a waste of time. I say, don't put one cent on a real-money site until you're utterly crushing and demolishing play money poker.

You are correct that bluffing is useless. But in flawlessly defending themselves against bluffs, they've opened themselves up to be totally vulnerable to the VALUE BET.

Here is a 9-year-old post about the subject that I believe is still accurate:

Here is the post explaining why I believe play money poker is so valuable:

Actually I am winning 190bb/100 at nl50000 (250/500) on stars. I'm just wondering if there is another strategy that works better. So far what I'm doing is overraising premiums (and blast the pot if I hit, check/fold If I miss) and limping with small pairs, AXs, connectors and gappers for set/flush/straight mining.

Thanks. Especially your first link describe perfectly almost every play money table. Virtually a 70% are never folders stations with another 20% beeing serial maniacs. Of course, there are some who respect their monopoly money roll and play as they would at micros. I have noticed players with VPIP <30 as well.

Any other advices and hacks are welcome.
