Hey everyone,

I play on Fulltilt and I mainly play 4.40 Rush NLHE tournies. When I get around the 150/300 + range I falter a lot with pocket pairs meaning anything less than QQ. I know that I want to get into a multi-way so I can hit the set and get paid but at this level there are little to know multi-ways. Generally I bet 4x the BB pre-flop to just try and steal the blinds since I know in rush anyone will fold anyways and whoever calls me probably has me beat or has me in a coin flip. Is this approach correct? If not, what else should I do. I always find myself busting or losing 1/2+ of my stack when I hold a pocket pair like 99 and the flop has an A, K, Q, J, or T. I usually figure I'm ahead if I see a T or J though bc most people won't risk too much of their stack on AJ , AT, etc.

Thanks for the help!

really? when I have PPs late in a tournament i often* shove because i have a pair and odds are the others wont.

honestly though, you question really doesnt contain enough answers and there is no 'one size fits all' answer, if you are giving up just because the flop contains an overcard then you are almost certainly playing it wrong and giving up to easily....stack sizes, table dynamics, reads and position are huge. i almost never play pp for set value late in tourneys, feel free to ask why if u need it explained further.

perhaps post some specific hands with reads and you probably should do some research on shoving ranges. goodluck and welcome to 2+2, you'll get along just fine if you have a good attitude

Well, for starters betting 4x at 150-300 is a big mistake over time. The rest is wat ozi said.

Yea its pretty much time to shove at that blind level. You need to be careful with pocket pairs. People think just because it's a pair you have to play it. Its ok to fold small/medium PP's when your out of position. And you really wanna stay away from calling so many raises and limping into so many pots. All your doing is calling off your chips. I call min raises with PP's from the blind though.
But a lot of this depends on your stack and theres so many factors that theres no right answer here. When you get into this situation in the future post the hand and ask peoples opinions on how you should play that hand in particular.

BTW like ozi said If you wanna steal the blinds with PPs shove in position dont raise. Its a better strategy.
