how much do you need to save before venturing into playing 1/2 live cash games? do you just save up $600 from your job and go and play. would playing 2nl online help you in playing 1/2 live.

You can go with one minimum buy-in, that’s usually $40-60, $100 at some places. If you like to play a 100BB stack, you should bring at least $200.

There are lots of players who come to play with two $50-100 buy-ins and leave after losing that.

My general advice, not specific to you: poker is gambling. If you have to specifically save money to do that or use money from your emergency fund or whatever you call it, it’s probably best to not do it.

Playing NL2 online will help you get better at the game. Being a better poker player certainly helps with playing online.

This sounds like good advice. I also enjoy tournaments more than cash games. I will play tournaments instead.

depositing $10 onto pokerstars and playing 25 cent 45 mans is not going to hinder my progress much of getting a emergency fund saved up.

I will do that. maybe in a couple of years i can venture into playing live mtts but not at the moment.

once you start to consistently beat $1-3 tourneys online you can safely transition to live tourneys and crush.
Live tourneys are super soft
