Play money sites that provide hand histories? Play money sites that provide hand histories?

Subject says it all, looking for a site accessible from the US that will send hand histories.

Bonus points if that site if Hold'em Manger/PT3 supports that site.

Thanks much in advance.

While you may find that needle in the haystack site that writes actual hand histories for play tables, HM and PT certainly wouldn't have coded their software to work for play games.

PokerStars can write hand histories on your computer as you play them, but they wont send you HHs for play chip hands if you didn't have the software set to save them, or you have lost them.

HEM and PT3 wont import play chip HHs, but it should be fairly easy to write a script to convert them so that they can be loaded. I would consider attempting to write a script for 1 million PS play chips

Meh. I'm pretty sure that PokerStars turned off hh's for .NET players (and I'm in the US).

I could write a pretty simple sed/awk script to handle the editing then a bash script to handle the moving, once edited, to a directory that PT3/HEM monitored, I just can't get PS to save my histories.

http://update.pokerstars.com/PokerStarsInstall.exe

Options > Instant Hand History Options > [X] Save My Hand History

Looks like you can figure out the rest ...

Edit: I'm in the US too ... it does work ...

obviously, thanks a ton. I just assumed that US players couldn't log in with the .com client. Worked great.

There are a few good reasons that I can think of, but what I'm curious about is what compels people like you to act like Nelson the bully in the Simpsons?

I am a bully? For asking how can anyone play poker for fake money? It is like playing soccer without a ball

Your post, which in no way helped the OP answer his original question, was the equivalent of Nelson pointing and saying "Ha-Ha". I didn't mean to single out you in particular, but in the past, when anyone mentioned play chips in BQ, there often many replies amounting to nothing more than "lol, play chips". For a while there was even a "play chips containment thread" that such threads/posts were moved to.

I'll answer your question, and I hope you'll answer my followup question of why you felt compelled to post "even the sims > playmoney poker" which you must admit is pretty demeaning to play chip players when posted on a poker site.

Reasons to play play chips.

1) You can tilt pretty hard without losing money. I've sometimes gotten tilted at real money tables, and rather than tilting of part of my meager BR, I can blow off steam at play chips.

2) You can play with your friends - and even bet on the side. Home Games play chips on PS are a good option for US players who want to play vs people they know.

3) You can play games other than Texas Hold'em. Many games just don't run at US friendly sites.

4) To relax and have fun. Just because its not your idea of fun, it doesn't mean that others can't enjoy it. WoW, or even the Sims, isn't my idea of fun, but I don't go on Wow sites and post "how can anyone play this game?"

I've been known to go to PS and play on the play money limit holdem HUHU tables just for the fun of it when I didn't have much time and just wanted to play a little without grinding.

Thanks OB. I do get a little tired of the lolplaymoniez. Fact is, despite poker still being legal, Black Friday ate my roll, got a family to support, no real money to deposit and hesitant about doing so even if I did.

To directly address wtfpwnage, the reason I play play-money games (as opposed to not playing at all) is because (a) I still enjoy poker, albeit less, and (b) the more games anyone plays -- even play money -- the more they become intuitively aware that getting it in an 80% fave still means losing 20% of the time.

Yes, we all know this, but if you've seen it happen a few thousand times, all other things being equal, you're going to handle it better than a guy who has seen it happen a few dozen times.

So for me play-money games still have utility.

So what is the way to analyze hand histories for play money tournaments? I have all my hands saved to my computer but I don't know how to transfer them to holdem manager.

You'd have to convert them to look like they were played in a real money torunament. You should be able to just do a find & replace of the tournament buyin, maybe make it something like a $5000 tournament so you know which ones are play money.

Thanks! I'll give it a try. They're saved into my notepad. Do you know how to get information from notepad onto holdem manager?

OK it seems that PokerTracker allows play money. Anyone know if this is correct?

PT4 does play money now. I only played around with it a little, and only with cash, so I don't know how well it works for tourneys.

One thing you have to do is set an "exchange rate" for play chips to dollars, or else profit/loss will be equal to zero.

Interesting simile. After all, soccer is fake football: a footrace for sissies.
