Hi!
Struggeling with what format is best if i want to start playing again after a lot of years without playing any poker.
I just want to make some extra 200-300$ a month st Microstakes. Is The swings in Omaha gonna make it much harder or what do you think? I played both back in The days so i know The rules at least.
What would you choose if you starter over? =)

Don't think about setting monetary goals, just play to have fun and improve your game. Do that, and the money will take care of itself.
In terms of your question, if you're a complete new player then HE is the simpler game to learn, but it has several disadvantages:
- it's boring
- it's been analysed to hell
- the opposition is generally stronger
If you've already got an understanding of HE, then learn Omaha (of which there's several forms). If you're a complete newbie to poker as a whole, then learn HE to get a general understanding of how poker and flop games are played, then learn Omaha
Poker's a game of near infinite variants, of which most just play the least interesting one of the lot. Expand your repertoire and you won't regret it

Cash games or tourneys?
If tourney, holdem for sure because 95% of tourneys online seemingly are NLH
If cash games, play whichever you enjoy the most. NLH is definitely gonna have stronger opponents just because there's so much more info out on it but also there are way more games and still plenty of bad players at microstakes to get profit from.
I am more of tourney player so I'd go holdem just because of that.

Kalle,
In 2005 at the height of the boom the best way to make money was to spend 80% of your time waiting for maniacs to barf up their stacks in nlh and the other 20% trying to get TV time
In 2021, the easiest way to make money is to spend 50% of your time learning everything you can about crypto currencies, 40% of your time playing Omaha / Omaha hi lo cash games, and 10% of your time playing the most plus ev Tournies, which are usually nlh.
