How would you introduce poker to a friend? Like he plays home games and zynga, but not online for real money. You don't want to bombard him with much info, but like say what are the essentials to get him/her interested?
Since it's not a matter of introducing him to poker as much as it is introducing him to putting money on the line - I would say perhaps start by making sure he understands how it's a game with a large skill component. If you have decent results online yourself, it would certainly help convincing him

If you dont mind me asking why exactly do you want to get him into poker? If he's not interested in playing real money maybe he never will be.
Show him some balla graphs of big winners and how much $$$ they make.
Hey folks, just getting my foot in the door practicing in a free poker room. I've got 2 (extremely newbie) questions:
1) What happens when you go all-in but dont have enough to match the bet? In the free games I play, you can go all-in with almost nothing, but I assume in real games its different becuase the risk:reward would be unfair to the other players.
2) In regular cash games, the high hand wins the whole pot, except a tie, where its devided evenly. Why do I see hands that lost get paid, small uneven part of the pot?

These two questions are interrelated. When you go all in but can't cover the bet, whatever portion you can't cover is set aside to be returned to the original bettor, whether they win or lose the pot.
The small portions of the pot being returned to people that lost are their excess bets that other players couldn't cover.
This occurs in live games as well as online, in fact if you think about it you will realise it has to work like this unless every single person always has exactly equal stack sizes at all times.
I came here as a joke and said"how can i get a girl to say Hi to me"
and a mod deleted post and made a thread in bbv as if i created it, with no permission, Id like a pm explaining why this happened and that thread that THEY created under my name REMOVED please.

Maybe you can explain why your asking ridiculous un-related questions in a poker forum in the first place?
Besides you should know how a girl's mind works since you frequently pretend to be one and try to con people into staking you by "flirting" with them.

Sounds like your thread was moved to a more appropriate forum.
Id admit i was wrong to post here, but a mod or whatever shouldnt have the right to do what they did. They coulda just deleted it fine, but create a thread under my name? Makes me question how safe i am on here if they have that access to our names/passwords. How would you like it if you had a problem nismo with a mod and then you saw a thread created by you saying"i am gayyyyy" or whatever to make you look bad. Youd be mad and worried right?
If my thread in bbv doesnt get taken down and i dont get a response from a mod or admin who did it im going to about the forums and putting in a complaint tomorrow.
btw i never flirted with anyone, just made up stories, and i always gave $$ + more back, way to judge me though

Im pretty sure mods don't have the ability to make threads in your name i assume they just moved your already existing post into BBV.

How does saying you're 'gayyyy' make you look bad, except for the fact that your spelling isn't very good?
It's the 21st century, mark, you might want to join us here, it's fun.

Why wait? Go start your thread in ATF right now.
(Nobody created a new thread, they moved the thread you created. Are you a Kevmode gimmick account?)

I moved it. Start your thread in ATF by all means.
Is this the right thread for advice on random hands?
If so, I think I need a little help on playing aces. Clearly I played this one badly, but I find it kind of hard to fold them on a random board even though I knew by the turn that he probably had a set.
River:($2.07, 2 players) K Hero bets $1.30, BTN raises to $3.60, Hero calls $2.30
Spoiler:
BTN shows J J (Three of a Kind, Jacks) (Pre 19%, Flop 91%, Turn 95%) Hero mucks A A (One Pair, Aces) (Pre 81%, Flop 9%, Turn 5%) BTN wins $8.89
I'm guessing I should have check/folded the river, but is there anything else I could have done better this hand to minimize my losses/maximize my winnings when they don't hit their set?
Edit: Villian here was 15% VPIP over 77 hands. Should I have probably folded less than 20ish and check/called over that, or something like that?
Theoretically (aside from whether it's attainable or not), what winrate would one require to have <0.1% chance of any downswing, assuming a normal standard deviation (no pun intended) - I think that's about 90bb/100?
