Generally:

Dealt - Everyone dealt into the hand is credited (for VIP, rakeback or bonus clearing purposes) with the an equal share of the rake.
Contributed - Everyone who put money into the pot is credited (for VIP, rakeback or bonus clearing purposes) with an equal share of the rake.
Weighted Contributed - Rake (for VIP, rakeback or bonus clearing purposes) is credited based on how much each player contributed to the pot.

So with dealt, you some credit even if you just fold your hand preflop? Is this what stars uses now but is possibly going to change soon?

Yes.

Changing it would dramatically change the dynamics of games. Currently there are lots of players who play a very tight game, just about breaking even and making their money through the reward system. Contributed rakeback will reward active players, so multitable nitting will be a much less viable strategy.

Even active loose-aggressive players lose out under the cancer that is the weighted-contributed system, and historically its introduction has harmed all of a sites' players, made negligible difference to the games, hardly benefited fish, and been a money-grab by sites.

If you want to really learn about the difference between dealt and contributed rake, join the debate and see the bigger picture above level 1 type thinking, set posts/page = 100, see the SNE pursuit thread and skim-read from post #8921 onwards.

How do you see who voted on a public poll after you have cast your vote. I was able to see all of the voters before, but can't now.

when you see the bar graph pop up after voting, click on the blue number of votes.

Yes, I've been trying to follow it but just needed to get the basic definitions clear first, thanks for your help on that.

This sucks that stars are changing because I'm definitely one of the chumps who can only win by multitable nitting and profiting through bonuses. I'm too dumb to actually win at this crazy game. So stars will definitely lose this fish.

Oh yeah. Today's dumb question is...

What is 'ratholing' exactly?

Thanks.

Did you type 'ratholing poker definition' into Google yet?

Anyway - proper ratholing (leaving the table and returning to it immediately with a shorter stack) is prohibited on most sites and in most card rooms. So nowadays it means leaving the table as soon as you win. Shortstackers do this as part of their strategy, because they can't play a short stack strategy with a bigger stack.

Some players don't like it, because they think the player is depriving them of a chance to "win their money back". Online, though, that's the wrong way to think about things - partly because it's not your money any more, and mostly because there are plenty of other players who will buy in.

It is generally frowned upon in home games, because it takes money out of the game, which may be the only chance the players have to play poker for a whole week or whatever.

Yeah sorry should have searched it really. This thread is a victim of it's on success though; I know if I ask a question here I'll usually get a super focused and concise response, plus it gets the old post count up hehe ;-)

..but yeah I'll google simple questions first next time, soz

Hey I had a question about stacking tables, everytime a new sng pops up, it pops up somewhere randomly on my screen, and not in my stack. Is there any way these new tables will just pop up in the stack? Its annoying to drag them in the stack manually every time!
Thanks

On stars?

CTRL + 8.

Other shortcuts are under the View menu.

When you've got all your tables where you want them (eg, stacked by pressing ctrl-8), choose Save Custom Layout from the View menu and check the Apply in Rotation checkbox. All your new tables will then appear where you want them.

Hello i want to instal HM2 to my PC and i see that two errors.

after few seconds this...

When i download PostgreSQL manualy and try to instal i see same error.

My OS is:

HM2 support says:

Hi,

1) Clear your web cache http://www.wikihow.c...Browser’s-Cache and cookies http://www.wikihow.c...owser’s-Cookies, and try downloading again

2) Right-Click > Save Link As to save it to a different folder.

3) Reboot, and run the installer first thing.

If the problem persists try a different browser such as Google Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Internet Explorer

Thanks
Denise

anyone know how to solve this problem?

do what support said then, and if it doesn't work, post on the holdem manager forums, not 2+2.

arrange a teamviewer session with support where they set it up for you.

don't worry you're not missing much, HM2 is awful so far.

Make sure you downloaded the right version (32/64 bit).

If HM-support helps you with teamviewer that's great.

But to me it seems more like a postgres error. So I would try and contact their support. You'll probably get better answers than on 2+2.

This is a silly ques, but why are some casinos called "charity casinos"? I tried to find a def and it states for some casinos, only a small proportion of profits go to designated casinos, so what gives, just another silly catch to make ppl patronize them more vs 'reg' commercial casinos?

Anything from useful to essential. I think it's a must if you multi-table.
