AFAIK from a card game played in the 14th century in Germany named "Poch" also played in France under the name "Poque".

Yes.

But you have to play +EV games (obv not Roulette, Craps etc.) and it's not easy. Very few succeed. Think of the winning players as the tip of an iceberg.

EDIT: the players that can actually make a living with gambling are the tip of that tip imo.

Pali answered the question. I have my own for you.

Is the game of poker a gambling game? Most practitioners of the higher level of this game think of poker mainly as a math game that includes a small element of chance....especially the game of limit poker. This is primarily due to the fact that we view the results over a long period of time and that the exact outcome of a particular hand is irrelevant.

The playing pieces represent money, and the whole game revolves around placing and taking bets on an uncertain future outcome. It's gambling alright - and the skill element is all about how well you gamble compared to your opponents.

Check your filters on the left. You're filtering / only showing "Turbo" and "Multi Table" tourneys. That results in 0 tourneys matching the filter.
Change the filters to "All speeds" and "All". And see if that helps.

It really is that simple.

How does the free trial work?

If you cancel your subscription within 7 days, we won't charge you. One free trial per household, please.

Edit: Basically, the hook is that you'll find the videos so good you'll at least pay for a month or two. Unless you can d/l every video in a week

My question:

I'm playing in a $65 live NLHE charity tourney(pays top 10%) coming up that has 2500 starting stacks with a fairly slow blind progression for charity tourney(first two levels are one hour) with an option of an add on of 1000 extra chips for $20. Should I add on here? Should you always add on?

is the add-on at the start of the tourney? Does the $20 go into the prize pool or no? What are that the starting levels?

Add-on is at the start of the tourney only. Does NOT go into the prize pool. Starting level of 25-50.

I'm ashamed to be asking this, given I play 1/2 I should probably know, but I only play B&M because I live in the U.S.

What do the "number/number's" mean when someone posts it?

For example "I play like 15/12" or "He's 22/20" so on and so forth

in lobby, look up to Announcements.

There is a thread with FAQ.

the 15/12, 22/20 question is probably the most frequently asked question here

awesome, thanks... that's the XX/YY/ZZ right? but presumably most people just post XX/YY?

depends on where you are posting. If it's a strat thread.....the xx/xx/xx is often not even enough information.

Game Theory Optimal. You'll often find it mentioned in the same breath as "Nash Equilibrium". See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nash_equilibrium
