Yes, they're looking for (smaller) affiliates to send them offers tailored to their volume. In particular if a player is high volume (generates a lot of rake) some affiliates may be inclined to make a better offer.

The downside is that there is some risk in dealing with smaller affiliates (ie: they may go out of business), particularly if the room/network has set rules about maximum rakeback that they're breaking.

In the tournament forums they have a lot of posts that are referred to as "sweats". Like, for example, "FTP 100k sweat" or something like that. What is a sweat?

Sweating someone means watching them play.

this is not so much of a question, but something im experiencing while playing online...

while online started out pretty fun, it now feels like im not playing poker, but rather following a pattern; basically i only plays hands that are AA, KK, QQ, QK (suited), AJ (suited), and JJ ... anything else I fold ... if i can see a cheap flop, ill limp in with a low pocket pair, but thats about it... i do occasionally steal blinds with suited connectors

essentially, ive gotten bored; its like a pattern of waiting for those big hands, and getting all my money in before the flop .. either i win big or lose if someone outdraws me

anyone else experience this? any advice on how to resolve such an issue?

Learn to play better?

If you're stopped learning, stopped improving, that pretty much explains all your problems right there.

I dont like asking this question but this is the dumb question thread.

I downloaded poker tracker 3 because this forum advised me to. I just cant get the darn thing to do anything, I try its websites forums for help but most of the help assumes that you already have it recording your play. I dont even fully know what it does, it records the hands you have played and generates statistics and graphs which I may find useful is my best understanding of it and thats what I would like it to do. However I have had no success in my attempts to get it to do anything. I cant get it to record the hands I play is what Im saying (which to me sounds stupid because I usually pick up computer programs pretty quick).
So I play micro stakes on Pokerstars and I have downloaded and installed poker tracker 3 now what do I do?

I'm guessing you still need to import your hands into your Pokertracker database. Go to the Import tab and your screen should look like this:

Then either select "Begin Auto Import" or manually import the file with your hand histories.

You must also tell Pokerstars to save your hand histories. By default, it will not save them to a file on your computer. Go to the "Options" tab and select "Instant Hand History Options..." Make sure the checkbox at the top is checked.

If you havent played live before its good to definately drop quite a few levels down from wat you play online. The live games may take a little bit getting used to and the live games despite the smaller blinds, say 1-2NL game, will have a lot bigger pots than a 1-2NL online pot. You might be surprised at the opening raises being 7-10x the bb opposed to 3x online.

That was the problem, but now that I have done that Pokerstars just isnt seeming to send me my hand histories. I look in the folder its supposed to go to and there is nothing there. What kind of file is it supposed to be anyway? I guessing txt. BTW I definetly checked that box.

Yes, they're text files with the name of the table/tournament and the stakes.

Double check that you have saving hand histories turned on and which folder they're being save to.

BTW, you can also request another copy of the text files of your hand histories that you didn't save from PS.

Its as it should be but after playing for a while then opening the folder there is nothing there as you can see.
Would it be possible to request the hand history as an email, copy and paste the results in notepad and then do a manual import from PT3?

I've some noobish questions that aren't worth starting a thread for;

1. What's the best way to get a "disregard for money"?

2. Is it worth me switching to the Lucky Ace skin from Pacific?

3. Do PStars playchips have any value? (I've seen dodgy sites offering to buy/sell them but they all look like scams)

4. Is it worth trying to sell playchips in the marketplace or will I just look like a fool?

That's pretty strange. I'd contact support and try to get it figured out. Manually importing is going to be a huge PITA. (Yes you can import manually).

You're playing real money, right? You did say micro-stakes, but that's the only other thing I can think of. Not sure if Stars saves play money hand histories...

Click on "Last Hand" in the upper left corner of the table.

Last hand history window pops up.

At the bottom left of this window is a text box.

This text box contains the hand history in text format. Mark, cut and paste this text.

Marry a woman who spends a lot of it

Like everything else, just practice.

If you can get better rakeback/bonus deals then sure (no idea).

A couple people in this forum have mentioned selling them. Use the search. I'd expect there's a very good chance you get scammed. So if you find a reliable site, obv stick with it. And even if you do get scammed, it's gonna be for $10. So unless you live in the third world or your job involves collecting soda bottles on the highway, it shouldn't be a big deal.

You'll probably look like a fool. Do you care?

Manually importing files isn't that big of a deal, as long as they're all in one place. Just tell PT to import from a directory and wait a while.

Stars will save play money hand histories to your hand history folder, but PT will not import them.

Yeah, but doing it by hand while playing every time would be a pretty big pain...

This is a really silly idea that just popped into my head, but since the HH's are all just text, couldn't a person with modest perl skills simply write a converter to make play money hh's look like real money games, thus making them visible to pt?

clearly a waste of time, but you know, sometimes wasting time is fun and educational.

are u using vista?

dunno if this is relevant but when i upgraded my PC and got vista installed it decided to send my notes and handhistories to a LocalData in C:\Users for my useraccount directory and not the c:\program files\pokerstars directory that it was supposed to.

if you cant find it and are sure youve turn on handhistories search for a "HandHistory" directory. you can also try searching for your pokerstars username and see what folders and files it finds.

hth

edit: this should be really obvious but this is the really siilly Q thread so....when you turn on HH it will NOT send you hands youve played prior to this point (but for those, as mentioned by another poster above, you can email stars). it will however write hands you play to the chosen location in text files in real time.

Yeah, I'm sure you could just open the text files and use find/replace to convert them to look like real money games. Just compare the two types. Should be pretty simple.
