Really? I heard that if you ever made an account with FTP and deposited then you couldn't do that. When I just started out, I deposited $10, donked it away and started @ pokerstars, but I guess I could try. I don't even know my account name there anymore, lol.

Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten are all broadway cards. If you have all of five of them it's nicknamed a "broadway" straight.

If you have Ace, Two, Three, Four , Five that's a "wheel".

Now you swear and kick and beg us
That you're not a gamblin' man
Then you find you're back in Vegas
With a handle in your hand
Your black cards can make you money
So you hide them when you're able
In the land of milk and honey
You must put them on the table

Sometimes the cards ain't worth a damn, if you don't lay'em down.

Is there a website to see Carbon (Merge) cash game statistics. For example bluff magazine has pokerstars and full tilt, is there anywhere to see Carbon poker?

On playing Ace King.

When I'm completely comfortable playing Ace King in all situations I think I'll have really achieved a benchmark in my play.

For me AK is like a replica gun - you can threaten people with it and maybe even take thier money every now and then but if they fight back often times you may as well be holding a banana.

It seems to me that when people call AK 3bets they are almost always doing it with QQ & JJ to check if the flop has overcards and if it doesn't they aren't leaving so there is little point in Cbetting and when they do see an A or K they're finished with thier chip-bleeding so forget about betting for value on later streets.

I'm guessing that the greatest return from AK is when it's being played for value on 3 streets against AQ, AJ, A10, KQ & KJ when the board produces an A or K; but how often is that likely to happen?.. I gotta get my PT working to help with my analysis.

Is my thinking on this flawed?

Not only can AK make TPTK two ways, it can also make the nut no-pair. Nut no-pair can win some sweet pots at the showdown.

I think they calculate those percentages on TV with the cards that other players have folded factored in (i.e. fewer outs to hit) because they often don't seem to reflect what the percentages would be according to preflop match-ups you might see on charts.

Sorry if this has already been covered elsewhere, there is a LOT of information here!

So after playing online fairly regularly for the past year, and developing to the point where I do fairly well at micro-stakes 1/2 N/L, 2/5 NL and 5.00 + .50 sit and go's and a relatively big cash in a MTT, I really want to start paying better attention to my stats, as far as ROI, etc. What types of information should I be tracking, and is there a canned program out there to do this?

Thanks in advance!

The two most popular programs are Hold'em Manager (HEM) and PokerTracker3 (PT3). I prefer HEM for reasons beyond just the program itself, but they both offer free trials so give 'em both a test drive and see which you prefer.

There are a zillion threads about stats, and it's too much to cover here, but recently I saw a thread in the unl forum by Skraper and BenjaminBarker (I think) that you might find interesting. There is also a stats thread here in beginner's that may be helpful to you as well.

Edit to add: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/69...-video-796092/

This is the link to the thread I mentioned and they link to a video they made in their review, but forgot it was more tailored to 3-betting. I've only watched the first part of the video, where they get into some general stats so that's where my memory failed me. Sorry for the confusion but you may still find it helpful.

Hey poker-profs,

Are there any good tips or threads or essays on changing tournament thought patterns to cash game ones such as;
betting for value instead of betting for info
trying to win money instead of trying to win pots
or are these concepts interchangeable ones for both formats?

Thx in adv.
