Since this is the official dumb questions thread...

Where does everyone get the graphs they are posting from? Do you get those from the poker sites themselves? Other sites? Do you have to pay to get your results tracked? If so, what is the cost?

Some graphs posted are from PokerTracker or Holdem Manager. Others are from a site like Sharkscope.

Okay - I love poker (online or otherwise) but there has been scandals (UB cheating scandal - info about it can be found by a simple google search).

So I ask the audience, how safe is it.... really?

Primetime is middle to late evening, when the recreational players with day jobs are out in force.

I like to play from midnight until dawn, when the players who are stuck and steaming from evening play are desperately trying to win it back, often in short-handed games. Less money is flowing overall than in the evening, but it is rather easier to get in the way of whatever money is flowing.

Daytime weekdays is retirees and vacationers, mainly. These games can be good, but weekend daytimes are better.

Is Full Tilt Turbo SNG's the same as Pokerstars Turbo SNG? and Super Turbo?

Quick noob question...

I know this has been talked about already, but i just want to confirm it. The rake at PS for micro stakes is 5% and the rake for FTP is 6.5%? So even with the rakeback at FTP of 27% which makes the actual rake 4.745% at FTP.

So even if i play at PS im not losing that much on rake back? or am i doing this entirely wrong?

what's the penalty for running a home game?
and
for participating in a home game?

is it state specific? let's say las vegas for instance. or just ball park.

It is indeed state- (and sometimes municipality-) specific. But very generally, a home game with no rake or time charge is highly unlikely to run afoul of the cops.

Matter of fact, the bigger reason regulars may be circumspect about their home games is the amount of cash involved can attract robbers, not cops.

See the Brick & Mortar forum for more on home games.

I recently moved from Party Poker where i played 2NL. Party Poker had a 2$ max buyin @ 2NL.

At Pokerstars they have a 5$ max buyin. I currently have a 50$ roll. Should i just buy in for 2$? that way i will have 25 buyins

The Home Poker forum might maybe possibly be a better place for info about home games.

Should you use the same bankroll management strategy for live play that you do for online play (~20 buy ins)?

I'm not sure I follow why this would be considered a douchey move online, where you can easily see the exact size of stacks. If anything, it's a statement that you're paying attention, and I would interpret it as strength. Help me to understand this.

i just don;t like it - either to me, or doing it to someone else. the times i do use it are usually with vindictive intent. as in, "you've really been annoying me, now call that you pos and you're busto!". or maybe when it happens to me or watch someone else having it done i usually get the feeling the villain is being deliberately smug. you'll possibly find i'm in a sensitive minority

this is cash btw, and not tourneys (what's the difference!?!). i did say it was my personal opinion, and would probably not give a satisfactorily logical answer for you

Seems like you take poker too personally. That being said, I know how to tilt you next time. Bwahaha

I guess that makes sense, and I've done it before but not often, and only against villians I think are paying attention. I saw it as a strong move, maybe similar to a C/R being seen as strong.

Generally I don't like to piss the fish off, I like everybody to have a good time and enjoy the game. Hmmm... Maybe I'll rethink this and only use it when I want to come across as a douche.

Where do we post questions which are tangentially related to poker?

- experience with Polyphasic sleep to achieve more wake time to put more volume during a prop bet

- methods / objects to use to best handle tilt

- best multi-tabling setups / settings

Thanks in advance.

If you open raise and a stack smaller than yours goes all in, how short does the stack need to be for you to call with ATC?

I hope you aren't open-raising with ATC.

No, just meant that you'd call with any of the cards you are raising with.
