Is this correct and why have this rule?
This is correct in some tournaments and may result in a warning and/or penalty. In cash games nobody's going to give a crap, except everyone will think you're brain damaged.

It's a rule because the only reason to deliberately check behind with the nuts on the river is if you're cheating (collusion).

(It's okay to check the nuts on the river if you're out of position - Going for a checkraise - But not when you're last to act.)

Ok, this is the scenario I was thinking of - a checkraise. So thats perfectly legal then. Thanks for that.

Yeah, checkraise is fine (though I think the first time the WSOP introduced this rule [last year? year before?] it didn't take position into account [ie: badly worded rule] and you could have gotten trouble regardless of position. Not sure if/when it was ever fixed.).

Only reason you'd check behind is if you're soft playing someone.

just so i understand the definition:

PTBB/100 - poker tracker big blinds won per 100 hands played. A PTBB is 2xBB.

so right now ive been playing 10NL and pokertracker is telling me im at 10.5bb/100. So this is equivilant to 21ptbb/100?

what is this stat trying to tell me that the regular BB/100 isint?

The 'BB' in pokertracker are 'Big Bets' not Big Blinds.

A Big Bet is 2x the BB. (It was originally made for Limit or somethin')

PokerTracker telling you you're at 10.5bb/100 (everything in PT is ptbb) so it means you're running at 21bb/100 (or $2.10/100 at 10nl)

3betting is just the first reraise.

Preflop, if someone raises, and someone reraises him it's considered a 3bet (The big blind is considered the 1st bet, then the raise is the 2bet, then the reraise is the 3bet, the next raise would be a 4bet)

After the Flop, someone bets, someone raises, someone reraises (3bet), someone rereraises (4bet)

Beginners Forum Frequently Asked Questions

PT was originally written for Limit poker where win rates are measures in Big Bets. In Limit a Big Bet is double the Big Blind so that convention was kept for No Limit.

Six of one. Half dozen of the other...

You need to contact FTP and ask them for rakeback.

You need to contact FTP and ask them for rakeback.
And when they send you a form email warning you not to make a second account reply politely but firmly asking if you are already tied to an affiliate and if not, if you could go on the rakeback list you have seen mentioned elsewhere. This will go to a real human being.

How do you shrink an avatar down to the specified dimensions?

I have even the tiniest picture from google and it still says that it's too large.

Hi,

Here is a short question about heads up, preflop what is the most common placing of the button - SB or BB, then who is the first to act? Post flop the button is always last to act.

When you play Heads Up, or one-on-one, the dealer is the small blind and the non-dealer is the big blind. The small blind (the dealer) is first to act pre-flop because the big blind is considered the first (blind) bet. On all later streets the non-dealer is first to act.

Cards are dealt as normal, to the non-dealer first.

I want to deposit a small amount ($50) at pokerstars. I've read that moneygram is probably the best way to deposit. However there is no mention of moneygram, western union, or wire transfers anywhere on this link.

http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/real-money/

Should I just email them for the setup information or is there another preferred way? Is there a minimum for a moneygram deposit?

TIA.

I don't know if you can deposit with moneygram. What you read was probably withdrawing with moneygram.

Some debit cards work for depositing, some don't, can try that.
