Ive recently read john vorhoauses (probably spelt wrong) book killer online poker, and whilst it does not really deal with strategy it did talk quite abit about note taking and table + seat selection.

my question is about note taking, i do not have a HUD and cannot see myself getting one in the near future so i was wondering about note taking.

ive tried searching but didnt really have much success. are there any guides for note taking?

what do you guys make notes on?
ive recentl started playing 5nl (not sure if that makes any difference)

any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Firstly, I would definately think about getting some kind of DB and HUD, it really will pay for itself very quickly.
As far as note taking is concerned I try to limit the notes to any moves I consider unusual
I wont note that a player raises utg with AA, but I would note if he called a PFAI with ATo, or if he reraises PF with 33
Post flop the advice is similar, if he plays draws and sets the same note it, if he always C-Bets but folds to pressure note that, anything that will help you in the future.

do u make notes on everyplayer or just regs?
what ive started doing is if i see a player more than once i make a note and hen if i see him again i start noting down the hands he/she shows? is this usefull or just time wasted
my thinking is that i will get some perception of his/her raise

My most recent notes are:

25nl - shoved pf aqs

25nl - folded 30% of chips pf to 4bet

25nl - minbuy reload fish, 3BI in 30 hands.

25nl - big turn bluff with 8 card draw.

25nl - 3 streets one pair.

25nl - will stack pf with jacks

25nl - monkey.

I'd take notes of anything you might want to remember about a player that will assist in future. Good, bad, ugly - take notes on everyone if you see somethng interesting.

i have always been awful at note taking but have been trying to change that recently
i also dont use any HUD when i play so my notes look more like this

20husng (what stakes and game) 9/09(month/year so if i see him in 2 years i will know how recent the note is as he may have fixed his leaks)

- LAG (general style)
-(each point after that is about either parts of their game that is exploitable or specific hands and actions eg.) - only donk bets with super strong range
or
- min donk bet K66ss flop with A4ss after calling 3x open pre
