I agree with this 100%. There are some small tells at the micros (2NL, 5NL is primarily what I'm talking about) to justify that a player may be a fish. Not buying in for max, not waiting for BB, and buying in with an odd number (ex. 2NL, player buys in for $1.78). Seems like a weird thing to do, something "out of the ordinary" but it's not a definative answer, like sixfour said, it can be a play on other player perceptions.
