Hi All,

Just started playing again on stars, with tiny BR playing $2NL 9Max. What are people's approach to note taking without HUD?

Below is example of notes from my first session.

Think I am judging the players via colour FISH/SOLID way too early. This was after like 9 hands.

Have the date and table copied, for quick paste and then note. However is there a more efficient way to do this? Or any articles for tips?

Marked Green for Fish
8/1/21 - $2NL 9 Max - l/btn
8/1/21 - $2NL 9 Max - fd to cbet x2

Marked Orange for Solid
8/1/21 - $2NL 9 Max - 3x pfr JJ

Marked Green for Fish
8/1/21 - $2NL 9 Max - posted MP1

Marked Green for Fish
8/1/21 - $2NL 9 Max - under 100bb

I always found the most useful thing to do is to make a note of what they have done when they've taken a very strange line. Knowing what something out of the ordinary means is incredibly handy and can tell you a heck of a lot more than anything a HUD will.

Also lol at some of those notes, if I can make someone think I'm terrible by just buying in for half a stack and not waiting for the big blind I'm doing it more often

Makes sense just taking note on v.strange line, as currently spending ages making notes on each little thing.

Is that happening at $2NL though, will regs be doing that to try and trick people? I thought not buying in at max or posting is -ve, so if doing that already a bit of a poor player?

I agree with this 100%. There are some small tells at the micros (2NL, 5NL is primarily what I'm talking about) to justify that a player may be a fish. Not buying in for max, not waiting for BB, and buying in with an odd number (ex. 2NL, player buys in for $1.78). Seems like a weird thing to do, something "out of the ordinary" but it's not a definative answer, like sixfour said, it can be a play on other player perceptions. I'd do it too man

I could also use help with note taking.

I will take notes when a player is OOL or when solid play occurs. Color tagging is pretty standard for me once I play a couple orbits to generalize a player, but where I struggle is shorthanded, legible notes. I'd like my notes to be more structured and readable, but also shorthanded enough to where I can quickly type while multi-tabling.

Here's an example below of how I'd like to structure my note taking and some feedback on whether info is too much/too little/too scatted would be greatly appreciated.

HUD Notes:
-Flats AA IP After 3B, X's Top Set
-3B KJo on UTG 4x OR KQs

HUD and Non-HUD Notes:
-Limper
OL QQ UTG
-Tilts After Lost Big Pot
AIPF 74s

Also is only 2 tabling a good idea while I get used to writing more legible notes so I don't overwhelm myself; or is 1 tabling best while I work on this? I can 4 table, but get lost in space when I'm writing notes and overwhelm myself.
