Thanks for your advice!
The most important way is to look through your big hands and see if you could of played them differently to lose less or make more. Play for as long as you feel comfortable playing. I wouldnt recomend mtt's but its not bad to add in one or two.

Red Line = Where your showdown winnings should be
Blue Line = Where your showdown winnings are
Green Line = Actual money made.

No i just get it from the box and post it, not too hard with practice = ).

1 How exactly do you play 24 tables at once, do you have six tables on four monitors or something? - Is it easy to set this up? I struggle to play 5 tables as I'm thinking about one hand and other tables start beeping, you switch to them briefly and check or fold, then return to the hand you were thinking about, but as I say, 5 tables is about maximum for me and that is fairly full on imo.

While I don't think I enjoy the game so much playing lots of tables, I know I do need to do it as I really want to develop my game to the point where I can make a living doing this (Circumstances dictate that it would be extremely good if I could find a secondary form of income).

2 I have in the past struggled at 6 max as I am not naturally aggressive and tend to become overly suspicious and call down aggressive bettors when I am holding light hands. I feel I am more suited to full ring. How do you feel the two are different and how do you adapt your game?

3 I often limp in full ring games 50NL with AJ suited, A10 suited - J10 suited, AJ unsuited, sometimes even QJ unsuited. I guess I need to work on discipline - I know I have to stop with the unsuited cards definately, but the suited cards are worth open limping or calling a limp, no?

What are your thoughts? Cheers. Rob
1) Lots of practice and i stack the tables. With time it becomes easier but it probably isn't recommended to play like this, its not very good for learning the game.

2) Both require aggression but in FR you have to tone it down a bit as people are more likely to nutpeddle/try to trap you/call you down with huge hands that they should raise somewhere with but dont. Just tighten up your game and play solid if oyu play FR.

3) Does your girlfriend make you limp? Poker shouldnt either.

1)Some HSNLers(eg: fees) that moved up very fast (say from 25nl to 2Knl or higher in one year) advocate reducing the number of tables to 4 maximum (for 6-handed tables). What's your position on that matter ?

2)What advice would you give to someone who kind of crushes 50nl, failed a 100nl attempt miserably(spewing a ****load because i thought everyone was making a move on me, combined with running pretty bad that resulted in a cool 35bi downer) and is attempting to move up for the second time ?

3)Also do you think practicing HU is a good idea for 6-max games ?(I am doing that when I can't find good tables)

4)Buy spadeeye ?

Thanks
1) It is the best way to learn the game, but it hurts your hourly. Sort of a choice you have to make it.

2) Just play your EXACT same game and dont worry about people making moved on you. Thats one of the biggest reasons people fail trying to move up because they dont want people to make moves on them when they should be just playing a solid game.

3) Yeah HU will help your six max game.

4) ??? I dont know what this is.

Hey, i play on Everest. :P

I know i am a fish, but i don't know what all those numbers mean. I mean, VPIP% is 27,5. Is that good/bad? Why? What number should it be to play TAGstyle? 10%???? The same with the other numbers.

Doug,

Is limit better for learning the math than no-limit?

If I find myself playing better/more comfortably in limit, but my hourly is lower than in NL, should I go to NL or limit to focus on?

it's a game selection tool. I am surprised you don't know about it. At the same time if you play 24 tables you probably don't game select all that much.
Thanks for the answers!

Hello WCGRider,

non poker related question: Are you going to be (or have you ever been) Quailman for Halloween?

poker related: At what level did you begin using PT? I have not bought it yet, but I guess it would probably help in finding out how bad I suck.

Thanks sir.

it depends on if your playing for money or enjoyment. And yes limit is wayyyyy more math based.

Are you coming out with anymore videos for CR at the microlevels?
08-20-2008 , 10:35 AM
Thanks for doing this again, been following this post for a while.

I started with 25 bucks at 2NL and am now playing 10NL 6 max thanks to you (and Fee's guide).

I'm running 22/18 at 10NL 6Max with a win rate of ~7BB/100 over 12k hands. I know this is a really small sample but I just don't have time to play that many hands per day. Do you think 25NL and 50NL will be a significant increase in skill for me? Or extrapolating my win rate i'll be ok moving up. My BR is kinda light ($450) but I'm thinking about taking a shot up.

I also read your post on where to play when you have $x and i'm thinking about moving to Full tilt for rakeback. Has anything changed since that post? I was also considering cake as i know that was mentioned as well.

Finally, do you think the investment in a training site will pay off immediately? (I don't have any extra cash im as broke as they come) so i'd have to pay it with poker profits which would hurt my roll. Worth it in the medium-run?

Have you ever been to Estonia, Doug?
08-20-2008 , 12:21 PM
Hiya,

thanks for replying to my queries. I've just imported 3K hands into PT and found that I'm running at 23/7/2.25. I thought I was a tight nit, but it appears I'm a bit of a fish. I breaking even, so I know to make money I've got to tighten up a lot more.

With suited connectors and Axs, I am starting to believe it best just to play from late position when there are at least two or three callers in the pot, would you agree?

One more thing - is there a fairly cheap way to get a bit of coaching out there?

Thanks again for taking the time.

Rob

how do I win?
08-21-2008 , 03:34 AM
Hi Doug.

Long time reader, first time writer. I mostly play NL10 and 2-5$ sngs. My sng game is imo very solid but I feel my ring game skills have a ton of leaks. What I'd like to know is what are some of the more common leaks microstakes players have and how do I locate mine? I use PT3 if that helps with advice.

Rider (or anyone else)

Plzzz to be telling me how to make a graph on pt3 that shows money won overall, money won w/ showdown, and money won w/out showdown? Been playing with the filters but can't seem to get it to work
