I want to buy a new HP monitor...either their 20" or 23"...will the larger monitor increase the size of the playing cards [my eye site is getting worse]

Thanks,

The resolution of a monitor is much more important than the size of the monitor.

The short answer is yes. The long answer is that how big things appear on the screen is a function mostly of what resolution you run the monitor at. Assuming the models you're looking at are what I think they are, the maximum resolution of the 20" is 1680x1050 while the 23" does 1920x1200. If you run the monitors at those default resolutions, the physical size of the playing cards will be roughly the same on both screens. The advantage of the 23" then is that there is more space on the screen - if you lined playing cards up edge to edge you could fit many more on the screen than on the 20". However, if you want to you can instruct the 23" to display at 1680x1050 resolution. If you do this the display will appear the same as the 20", except physically larger in proportion to the increased size of the monitor, thus making the playing cards appear larger. So as I said, the short answer is you can make the playing cards look bigger if you want to.

You might also want to look into playing on a site that has resizable tables, so you can make the whole table, including the cards, larger.

Good info. Thanks

The 20" is 1600x900 and the 23" is 1920x1080...is their a significant difference between the two?

Can you link these monitors you're looking at? You know you don't have to buy an HP monitor. You can probably get something much cheaper and better then what HP will sell you for the same price.

Right now I've got a dual monitor set up with an Acer 20" monitor and a HP 17" monitor. I need a new monitor...so I thought I'd replace my Acer with an HP since I like the picture I have on the 17"

Resolution may or may not matter in your case. Obviously a larger monitor will give you larger tables. With the ability to resize tables (don't all sites do this now) you can make them quite large.

Resolution is more important for those trying to get more tables on 1 montior/area by making the tables smaller or having a larger desktop area.

That said, higer resolution gives you a better picture and if you want a good bang for your buck, I'd suggest these.. http://www.circuitcity.com/applicati...8&Sku=H94-2804 ..I have 2 of them and love em.

can anyone take a picture of their 23" 16x9 monitor running at 1920x1080 resolution with 16 tables tiled? I'm wondering if tiling 16-20 tables would run comfortably with no overlay. Appreciate it

1920x1200 is the best resolution (under 30' monitor) for poker

If you can run two monitors, then run two.

Get another video card and run four or six, you will never look back!
