March Beginners Bankroll Thread March Beginners Bankroll Thread

02-28-2013 , 08:19 PM
Old thread: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/32...hread-1295739/

And here's the new thread. I know it isnt time in the US and Canada, but it is here in the Uk and over in Russia, where it matters.

My goal for this month is to lay off zoom, run over EV again and profit.
02-28-2013 , 09:24 PM
lol, march already ...
02-28-2013 , 09:48 PM
Ill be happy if my winnings try to follow my EV line and not look like they just had a fight and are trying to go their separate ways.

Also how is March already? It will be 2014 soon.
02-28-2013 , 10:33 PM

Morning chaps. I've been dabbling in poker and lurking around here but now I'm trying to kick on I thought I'd get involved.

Running around 13bb/100 at 2NL Zoom over about 10k hands for Febs, hoping to pick up the volume for March at 2NL to solidify my ABC game and take a few shots at 5NL.

Good luck yall
03-01-2013 , 05:14 AM
Moving from 2NL to 5NL this month again.
Need to put in more volume than last month, work on my game, and work off some bonuses.
03-01-2013 , 06:01 AM
5NL seems to be packed with TAGs this morning.
Did double up off one of them, though.
Surprised he called down tbh.
MP was a fish, so suprised BTN didn't fold to re-iso.
Board is very drawy but didn't figure a 5 was in his calling range.

I need to learn more about how to play in 3 bet pots - wasn't sure of sizing. Should it have gone in on the turn? Not much left behind by the river.

Get posting graphs in the unl forums guys. Good luck for March everyone.

Umm, no, it wasn't a 'bad beat' story. That player had a l/c stat of ~45% - 50% and fold to cbet of just over 60% (can't remember the exact figures just now as I'm at work). I also folded on the flop. So, now that is cleared up I'd be interested to hear any comment you may have on the actual post.

lol it's great when you flop trips and fish has a pair - they NEVER think you could have made trips.
It's like they're colour blind to the cards on the board.
Do they convince themselves you don't have an A/K/Q?
"Okay, he's shoved with KKx on the board, I have 55 - he's probably bluffing, I call".

March started with first ever epic heater. Nice to have after I experienced first real sustained(ish only 3K hands) downturn the other week. Variance either way happens but the momentum either way a sustained run gives you is incredible. Reviewing my play I didn't really do anything great. I didn't suck out on anyone which is nice and I wasn't even winning 60/40s or flips to be ahead. I was just getting good cards and terrible fish against me for 37bb/100 over 1500 hands.

    Some of the awesomeness:

WTF? Not even with the Ac!

Whoops. Check raise there to target Ax as might look like flush draw but still very surprised to see him jam over the top. I figured I'd be jamming the river and see him fold if he calls.

These sort of hands were typical. Normally some of these I get stacked on as fish call, call and call and at some point hit second pair or straight or something. Yesterday all I was ahead on stayed ahead.

No I won't because Windows 8 is a pile of balls. Anyone know how you can get a basic Paint style drawing program on this junk. All I can get are Apps and stuff. I know they want to compete with Ipads but if I wanted that I would buy one. I wanted a PC. Bloody Microsoft.

                          Fishtankz,

H1: AKs vs 50bb got to get that in. If he has KK+ fair enough but he will be prone to doing with any PP or AT+.

H2: Same. Short stacker does this with all sorts of trash.

H3: WP IMO. FD and gutshots will call as well and some two pairs will fold. If you didn't have the Diamond draw I'd be less prone to fire that but I'm pretty weak without the nuts.

H4: Thin for me. If he was really Open shoving a lot then fair enough but you are unlikely to have him crushed so why not wait for better spot.

H5: Hate these spots. Checking seems too weak with others to act and can't fold. Probably OK.

H6: Got to call that! You only need 25%. Even if is only ever KK+ its still not hugely -EV and I'm sure that it won't be just KK+.

                          Missing value you think?

                          fishtankz:

H1: Fine, shortstacks gon do this with less than premiums, especially fishy ones. Can't fold AK, although you'll be flipping a lot of the time.
                          H2: Same really.
H3: No need to go crazy I don't think. You'll have the best hand a lot of the time. Just 3/4 pot it and hope not to get raised.
H4: Depends on how much you like flipping. He'll possibly shove any pair, maybe any ace, and stuf like K5s too. You'll win some, lose some.
H5: Not sure what jamming acheives. Raise, by all means. Looks like they like their hands, though.
H6: Call all day against this villain.

                          @stude and paul
ty for comments. I agree with ak hands. I need to stop shoving ak while opponent is 100bb+ deep. It's -EV for every other hand than AQ-.
h3: i hate folding the river. If my hand is not best on the turn, its bad situation on river.
h6: need to make calculations for folding/calling. i was so sure he had aa/kk there.
@Paul if villain is a station, bet all day long.
