95% of the poker I've played has been at a home game. I have an assigned seat when I arrive. Now I've moved and play at the casino. A major hurdle for me is the long wait to get on a table. Right now I've been waiting for an hour and a half and I'm still 15th on the waiting list. It feels like I'm not mentally sharp when I finally get a seat. Any suggestions?

You can probably call them to reserve a seat.
Or just show up earlier.

one would assume in this spot there are not enough tables/dealers to just make a new table? if there are, it seems like a horribly managed room

No, there is a wage shortage which is affecting everything, including dealers.

Some rooms you can register online via an app (poker atlas or bravo) an hour before showing up. Others allow you to call in. Most rooms at least display their lists online. If you are able to vary your schedule then you can just pay attention and see if waitlists tend to be longer or shorter at certain times.

Every room is different with call-ins and lists. Try to talk to a Floor that you know (when they're not buried at the desk) to see what you can change about your routine, if anything. What time of day are you looking to play?

Perhaps you can sit down at a different game or stake that has a shorter list?

Where did you move to? Typically there's home games everywhere .. gotta dig. GL

This sounds a lot like toronto.

The casinos near Toronto have notorious long waiting times. It’s not uncommon to wait at least 3 hours to play.

I suggest playing online on your phone while waiting.
