Hi everyone,

Recently, I have begun to take my poker more seriously with some regular trips to the cardhouse. Tonight I had a pretty rough session and lost two BI's. I wanted to get some advice on what is the best way you all would recommend one studies to improve at live 1/2?

In the past I have tried reading Peter Clarke's Grinders Manual, although I found some of the sections to be little too GTO heavy for what I am trying to achieve. Are there any specific resources you all would recommend? I have no issue purchasing money on a cheap course (but don't feel that a very expensive course is justifiable at this stage of my game).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I seriously love poker and have been frustrated with my lack of regimented studying as it is difficult to discern what will be most helpful. I come from chess so studying theory and such is no problem to me and I just wanted some input from those who have been through the ringer and can steer me in the right direction! Additionally, if anyone wants to study with me let me know!

I usually recommend Red Chip Core for players looking to get into studying. It's well structured and is very affordable at only $5/week, and is a solid place to start getting into modern poker strategy. Grinder's Manual is a bit old at this point, but is still probably not bad. If you're playing live 1/2 and have never studied it would certainly help you become a long-term winner. There's also a fair amount of free content online from guys like Pete Clark and Bart Hanson that are good for learning players.
