Time to start poasting in this thread again ... should be fun!

In the past couple of months, it's been a hard slog ... languishing in the $30-40 range, running bad at 2NL or breaking even at best ... then I discovered the 0.25 45 & 90 man SNG tourneys that Stars added recently and things took off for me again.

From $30 --> $42 in the past 3 weeks!

I suppose I best admit now cash is the way to go
Im thinking the same thing. I purchased both the Harrington cash books and will be using that as my outline to grow my bankroll. I deposited $100 on full tilt and that allowed me a $100 bonus that clears in $10 increments.

My plan is similar as to what was outlined in HOC. I will play NL2 until my $100 hits $150. Then play NL5 until I hit $300 and then play NL10 until I hit ~$750.

It won't be quick but Im going to concentrate on improving my play at the lower limits that way when I get to the higher limits I should be ready.

Following the progress of the others in this thread is very motivational and Im looking forward to being a part of it.

I've built mine from $5 given to me by pokerstars... But I started at 10NL and this is not the first time I've done it.

i'm at teh very top of graph two now ... The graph doesn't include 2,000 hands of Fullring play prior to me starting to use PT3

What is everyone's winrate for the 210fpp sattys to the sunday two hundred grand?

Mine is around 45%, and just wondering how that stacks up.

As I see it, 5000FPP at silverstar gets you $50.

Satellites cost 210FPP. Pays ~$11 (T$ conversion). For every 5000FPP, you can play ~23.8 tournaments which means you need to win $2.1 per tournament or a win rate of 19% to break even with the cash bonus. Of course it requires time to grind them unlike the bonus (bonus requires clearing but you can still play normal games whilst you do this with no penalty).

It might not be worth it if your winrate is greater than the gap between the $50 bonus and your expectation $ev based on your winrate at the satellites isn't bigger than your hourly at your normal game....

mine was somewhere around 65%, but that was when they first started. I'm sure it'd be lower now.

Ok- so I'm still at 80 bux. I had a super-busy weekend, and also am using a new laptop and pt3 now. It took a few hours to set the damn thing up because Vista was doing all sorts of annoying things with permissions and file locations. It's all fixed now.

More hands tonight!

Ok i have been playing for a while and not learning the right way in terms of costing me money but i evauated this after some time and tried to do it the right way. I have read about 7 books and and read everything there is too read on here, i have also played the tables trying to find my best game. I deposited $100 before i saw this thread but would like to join in from the $100 mark as i feel this will give me more confidence building a BR with others. So far i have played a small amount and tried 4 tabling on stars suffered a luck out on one table after seeing my trip kings beat by a striaght Ten to Ace, the other tables went ok and my bankroll sits at $104.70.
Good Luck eveyone

if you can sustain that kind of winrate the tourneys are much better for you, since you can sell the T$ for 90%+ of value

A winrate of 40% gets you T$22 for 1100 FPP and T$100 for 5k, fifty bucks over the bonus. That's two bucks a tourney (real profit) if that pays more than your normal game it might be worth doing. If not, use them for something else.
How many have you played?

This is my graph, I started with the free 5 dollars 2 weeks ago from PS, and have been doing ok-ish so far, I have dropped down twice towards $1,50, but I finally managed to get a acceptable banroll by now. But since I am quite new to the whole bankroll management concept, I was wondering wenn to switch to 5NL, some site/guides say at about 40 dollar, but others say at least 100 dollar? And wenn do I have to drop down again to 2NL if I get a downswing? And is my 12 something BB/100 ok for micro stakes levels? people seem to call me with the weirdest hands around here. I know it's a bit of a small sample though.

Notice the big upswing of tonight btw, I made some good plays with TPTK :P

I've been running very good after moving up to 5nl, maybe I'm running hot, maybe I'm getting better .. Or maybe it's a combination of both Xp. I'm up about 60$ since I started 5nl 6 days ago. I'm probably gonna be patient and stay with 5nl until my BR reaches 320, I was expecting that would take like a month and a half, but If this keeps up, I'll be there in no time. I'm bracing myself for a downswing though, I haven't had a bad one yet, so I'm guessing it's gonna happen sooner or later : p

Well after 3 years of zero bankroll mangement im basically busto :-)

With my last $50 i thought id join you guys and see if with some BRM and grind i can do better than zero. Lol ive been up and down like a yoyo as high as 5/10NL but allways losing in the long run .. so hi ;-)

My 2nd day didnt go gr8 .. nobody folds at .2/.4 so it took a little while to adjust, so easy to just call when a bet is <$1 ...but almost level again .. lol, if i go busto i quit poker for good.

Main thing i need to work on is aggression and playing on more than 2 tables, currently playing 5 at .2/.4 FR.

Plan:

MTT Buyin: None
SNG Buyin: None
Omaha Buyin: None
7Card Buy in: None
Casino Buy in: None

Cash Buyin: No more than 10% BR until i reach $100 (currently at $40) then
Cash Buyin FR: <= 5%
Cash Buyin 6M: <=3%
which means:

Current rules: FRNL .2/.4 $4 buy leave at $10 take a 1/2 hr break to post in here every 3 hrs.

Move up to .5/.10 when BR = $200
Swap to 6max at .5/.10 when Br = $300

Max loss in session <= $20 so could be bust in 2 sessions! ($4 x 5 tables)

Also started to use PT3 and review games after each session, will post in here to keep myself inline.

I have not posted on this thread for awhile, mainly because I have had such a quick rise in my BR that it wasnt much of a grind, although I did play a lot of hands, not that much time-wise. Plus I have dabbled in MTTs, which is how my BR got a boost. I came in second place out of about 1400 in a $3 tourney for a little under $600. Then I cashed out 500 and started with about $150, and just started playing tourneys, with very little cash mixed in. I went into a $4 180 and won it. And today I have been grinding 5NL. I am now at $381.09. I started from a freeroll in which i got $1 about a month ago. I am getting close to $400, but dont want to move up to 10NL yet. I had trouble with 5NL at the start, but am now doing much better, and feel I want to beat 5NL consistently before I move up.

sound very nice, I should be playing tournaments aswell, I have been doing cashgames only, but my experience is 0,0 with online tournaments, and while playing live I am mostly drunk playing with friends who can't poker either.
any suggestions on a good read for tournament poker? some kind of e-book like fee's?

Good luck to everyone here,

I've been doing this since finding 2+2, deposited $50 on Stars January 1st and am up to $800 now. Was up at $1100 but hit a downswing
About 50k hands in now.

I've bumped up to 50nl 6max and there is a little more variance. maybe im a little underrolled but I am winning at 10bb/100 so far so good...

The hardest and most profitable transition IMO is from FR to 6max. Mental transition from multitabling to focussing on playing poker and not your hands.

GL to all!

I made it up to 95 over the weekend. Bought a new laptop too- so lots of these hands are in the older one with PT2- now I'm PT3ing it and my balance says -13.00 or so. I moved to 5nL and was promptly given the smackdown on my big pocket pairs. Twice I was stacked by underpairs, once AK hit an ace, and once KK < KQ on a 4flush board. Oh yeah, KK < AA aipf for 100bb too.

I'm at 83 now. When I get back up to ~95, I'll see if my hands have learned how to hold up better there.

I started with $25 and played the $2 HUSNGs at first, frustrated the hell out of me. I ended up sticking to cash, now playing 25NL. I think if I had the patience for SNGs they may have been a less painful way to build my roll up when it was tiny, but once you're rolled for 10NL (i.e ~ $200), you should try it. Play tight and value bet the hell out of the fish
