I like all the football talk as iv to enter a work fantasy football league and will be in looking advice

Robin van Persie and Andriy Arshavin are the obvious choices, simply because they're at the fore of everything we do, score goals, set them up, take free kicks/corners and penalties, they're a must.

What price system are you using? The same from The Sun? Just picking my team for that one now.

We are using the official premier league one. Its free to enter. Kinda weird though. £100m to spend on 15 players [4subs] and your allowed on free transfer a week

I normally suck at these but i plan to change that this year. I can get some good players but i need to get better a picking smaller clubs players for cheap monies

defo pick arshavin from arsenal as he will be their ray of sunshine in an otherwise gloomy season

my tip of the day will be rooney, and yes i'm a biased manc, but he will be the focal point of our team this year and the points he loses from bookings will more than be compensated by his goals and man of the match awards.
08-11-2009 , 03:26 PM
I've always rated Rooney and am glad he'll get a go up front at last (not good for us, though).

He always turns it on against us for some reason though.

Yea the prices on the premierleague.com are pretty weird, I dont like the bonuses you get either, but all systems have their flaws I guess.

My tip for that site, Alex Song, they have him as a defender, but he will spend the season playing cm most likely, 5.5mil aswell so v cheap compared to other defenders from top 4 sides. Luiz Jiminez might be worth a look aswell for backup midfielder

Ok, maybe not the last bit, but it brought back memories.
The lowest they (Ongame) had was 25NL when I started. It was as juicy as any NL game I've played in since tho.

You bet £x at 10-1 with your friend I bet £x with you at 5-1. The bet loses you are out zilch, the bet wins you collect 10x and pay me 5x for a 5x profit.

Or just open a Betfair account and lay it off yourself at 100/30 (season match bets -> Arsenal vs Man U)
Looking at the handicaps (top and bottom) may back something before it all kicks off. Blackburn +40 (MU scratch) maybe Brum ~10/1 for dead last, there's plenty of markets.

Around 50 45-man BI down from my last peak but can't complain, limp-rring and spitecalling and overshoving is fun even when you are losing still only played 683 total but going OK.

Yea i think ill go with song if hes for playing Mid. The main problem is iv 15 players to buy with 100 million, giving me an average of 6.6m per player.

Arsharvin = 11m
Rooney = 11m
Torres = 11.5m
Gerrard = 12.5m

Obv im not going to pick all of them. But if i buy 2 high ranking players it screws up my budget. Also the lowest price is 4m.

4 x 4 = 16m [if i decided to go cheap on the subs]
2 x ~11 = 22m

leaving

62m for 9 players = 6.8m per player

Any suggestions on best format

ie- all average
1 top class player
2 top class players

Keepers is a tough choice,

Schwarzer[fulham] was top last season, but will he repeat well this season? Also hes only 1m cheaper than van d s/cech/reina[each 6.5m] Schwarzer and given are 5.5m. Any thoughts on Given for this season?

It's only for £5 atm, sports betting ballers obv. Would that interest you or is it too small? lol.

I would say you can stretch it to 3 or even 4 top class players, there are quite a few bargains available so you can balance the team in other areas, Warnock Song O'Shea Jiminez Eduardo etc.

Well just take the bet imo. If things go bad early next year start saving

Placed so far:
Lay Blackburn relegation at 13.5
Blackburn +40 to win prem handicap
Hull to beat Wolves prem position 2.2
Arsenal to beat Liverpool prem position 2.58

pending: Birmingham finish 20th 12-1

Last time I did a fantasy league Franck Leboeuf was awesomely cheap for a penalty-taking defender

i don't know the rules for the premier leagie one, but the for Sun one I play at work for the last few years those that win or finish high have very top heavy teams. so good strikers and midfield and cheap players at the back. it's a bit of luck to get the cheap players that actually end up scoring you a decent amount of points

Get her a copy of winning in tough holdem games, you'll have her running for the hills in no time.

GAiuadgijasgn. I was in a 3rd step 3 players left, got JJ, some guy raised on the button, I shipped for 15-20bbs, and he has KK, obv.

So close to another ticket... at least I got my ticket back, but that means I have to go through this torture again. My god I hate STTs.

how do thse fantasy leagues work? do you win anything at the end??

i might sing up for one.. recommendations?

08-12-2009 , 09:27 AM
i do one at work but based on the Sun rules. yeah you can win something, usually cold hard cash - if you start off well and are near the top it can be worth a punt but it's more luck and fun i think as so many people do it. have a look the Sun website and follow their dream team links if you fancy a go. it's more fun though in private leagues with people you know.

Basically most people use them online and you can start a mini league for your friends. There are some free ones online, the official premier league one is the one im using this year.

I wouldnt do it only for the mini league. Theres around 12 of us who enter at $30 pp

American football is seriously one of the most inane things on the planet, and I'm not looking forward to the season starting up again as that's all ANYONE at work talks about, and all that's EVER on the tvs on the floor; at least now we have an interesting mix of baseball, horse racing and dog shows.

Of course the dog shows are the most entertaining right?
